Yes, we've pointed you to F150Forum.com because we are proud of the site and our members are extremely happy as well. Each site is a little different as far as ads go but we think it's a pretty good example of what we think is a great site. Ask our members and you'll find they are pretty happy.
I understand what it is. Maybe I just need to be more blunt- I think it's a stupid idea. How many internet forums require you to pay to join? Next to none. That registration ad pimps the site as being FREE, JOIN NOW. If somebody is a visitor to an internet forum, and they don't know that you can join for free, well I'd like to meet that person. I just don't see the need for it.

Do you have any way of tracking the use of that ad on other your other site (ie, number of members who became members by clicking on it vs. the standard methods of joining)? Because I bet it's not used much.

Meanwhile, the members who wish to just browse and not log in (which is quite a few), have to monkey around with logging when they just wanted to read a few posts or deal with the spam.

Actually you would be surprised. There are a lot of people who have never used a forum before and they aren't sure if it's free or not. Even with the registration box I get people asking me that question. You can't always assume people know these things which is why we highlight it.

BTW, we had a small spike in registrations yesterday and the box was only up for half a day. Believe it or not it does work and in our mind more mustang fans on this site is better for the whole community.

Overall I understand you don't like the ads and you don't like the registration box. Thanks for your feedback.

The only ads that they had were THE VENDORS that sold MUSTANG PARTS and that WE ALL have done business with. We dont need all those ads from everywhere else. This place is a FAMILY and not just a MONEY MAKING MACHINE. If all those ads start to appear on this site you WILL lose ALOT of people cuz they wont want to deal with all those ads. We have paying members here including myself that is prolly getting tired of the mentioning of the F150 Forum as well. Yeah I love Ford trucks and will always drive a Ford truck but enough is enough when it comes to this MUSTANG site.
We don't bring up the F150 site because we are trying to turn this site into that site. It's more of a resume that we proudly display so you can check us out. The members are happy and I think after the shock of the change in ownership is over you will be too.

We do want vendors and we will start reaching out to them soon. We just got the ad server up yesterday an Jon and I do this stuff on off hours after work. It takes a little time.

Thanks for your feedback though. It's valuable.

I only say that about the F150 Forum because it seems like everytime someone brings something up you guys always bring up the F150 Forum and how people on there like it. Just because people like it one way on one forum doesnt mean that people on another forum will like it the same way. I know I havent been on here a year yet but from the time that I joined till now we had people joining everyday.

As far as the vendors what happened to the old ones that were on here?? Did they just disappear?? Also why go to the ad server when the only ads we need were already on the forum?? We dont need any ads from Google or from any other place besides the places that support this site and that we will buy our parts and mods from.

+1 Dirk. Nobody really gives a **** about the F150 Forum. As a matter of fact, it makes the situation less attractive because the new ownership are simply managers; not enthusiasts.

Got it... you guys don't like us bringing up F150 Forum. Thanks for the heads up. To me, I would have thought it would be more comforting if you knew that we were just two guys who had a forum with a happy community so you could check us out but if that's not the case then I understand.

We are working on vendors so please give us some time. It's taken us weeks just to get the server moved and work on some other technical issues. Some of this stuff takes time.

I think we understand the feedback on Vendors, Ads, and the Registration Box. We will take you comments into account as we move forward. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Translation: It's our site now and like it or not, the ads are coming.

A resume will show what you are capable of and how you operate. If I was was hiring you for a job, I would expect you to do things you have listed on your resume. Therefore, I (we) expect to see a flood of ads on here.

Didn't it cost something like $300 a month to advertise? That's nice revenue compared to the pennies that Google Adsense pays.

See I highlighted 2 things in this post so I could clarify a few things.

The first highlighted part is you are putting words into our mouths by saying that we dont like you bringing up the other forum. Its not that at all. It is the fact that when we bring up a problem you always counteract it with well this is what the people on the other forum like. Yeah it is nice to know that you have another forum. You mentioned it in the thread about the you guys taking over. That should have been the last time you mentioned it. Not thrown at us every chance you got. If people wanted to check it out they would have checked it out right from the beginning. Not days later.

The second part I highlighted is about the vendors. You guys still have not answered any questions about what happened to the old ones that we had here?? All you guys do is skirt around the issue and say that you guys are working on the vendor issue trying to get vendors. What that is telling me is that the vendors that USED to be on here are now gone due to the sell of the site or due to the new regulations or fees that they paid? I dont know. I am not in a high enough position to see that kind of thing. Just my .02

We haven't had any contact with the vendors yet. We are waiting to get all the details from Brad first. Once we have all those details we will reach out to them and I expect that to happen soon.

At some point we are just going in circles. I understand that you guys don't like the Google ads and we will do everything we can to minimize them.

I've already minimized mine.

If you use internet explorer click on TOOLS on the top right side of your browser. Then click on INTERNET OPTIONS in the box that pops up. Then click the SECURITY tab, then click the big red circle with a line through it that says RESTRICTED SITES and click the SITES box below that. Add the sites DOUBLECLICK.NET and POINTROLL.COM to the list. Click OK and exit out. The ads in the top banner will no longer display.

This is subject to change, but is what currently works so you don't have to see Mazda ads on a Mustang site.

Thanks for the info, but should we really need to be blocking ads from TMS? I say lose 'em.

Losing them would be nice, but i'm not against them. Having a banner ad at the top and/or bottom of a page is fine, but when they start popping up all over the place, then it's an issue. F150 has 8 ads on one page. That's excessive.

I've been a forum member for almost 3 years and never felt the need to block any ads. Aside from Granetelli, who was too agressive, I found our previous vendors helpful and competitive and dont understand why those relationships can't continue.

Oh, and if I see "F150 of the day", my time here is over.
