New guy
These are strange days, indeed, where I find myself around these parts!
I'm Frank, a recent lurker and lifelong gearhead and driving enthusiast. I’ve spent the greater majority of life behind the wheel of Japanese RWD sports cars and currently am the happy owner of a 2007 Honda S2000. Lately I’ve had a change of heart.
My dad is now in his early 60s and we were recently talking about his glory days, when a 66 Mustang, a 71 Charger, some old’ Roadrunner, and various other Mopars/GMs lived in his garage. I told him I was thinking about the 2013 GT, as I rented one (in auto) for a trip to Vegas and was impressed with Ford’s strides in QC and R&D. This conversation left a huge impression on me. The deeply rooted seed of some ‘Merican V8 thunder bolted to a stick shift has finally taken root and I am obsessed. So, here I am.
Within the next 3 months, I’ll be ordering a 2013/14 GT with Track Pack, Recaros (maybe), and 6MT. While I know that I will miss the S2000’s razor sharp turn in and tossability, I know that the GT will be able to scratch the itch with a few minor modifications. I’ll just have to apply some actual planning into my cornering going forward. No more early apex at WOT while remaining on the track, I gather haha.
Anyway, I have chosen this forum due to its maturity and knowledge base. I look forward to more research and becoming more familiar with the new platform. Part of this is in honor of my dad. Part of it is to have a piece of the heritage. The majority of it is to have access to such immense horsepower and torque. I’m looking forward to exciting times. Thanks!
