1966 Mustang in Connecticut and a 2013 Convertible on order
Greetings from Connecticut!
We have an all Ford family. Current daily driver for my mom is a 1966 Ford Mustang hardtop in Tahoe Turquoise with a V8 289, A/C, Auto Transmission, AM/8 track and an FM tuner pack. Not totally stock since it's been restored many times, and we put in radials rather than the bias ply dual red band tires, helper leaf springs, halogen headlights, solid state voltage regulator instead of the electromechanical one, etc.
Plus 3 Ford Crown Vics. Two of the Crown Vics are now past their prime and have to be junked...you know your car is in really bad shape when your mechanic tells you the underbody is rotted out(including under the drivers feet), the frame is cracked in six places, parts are falling off the car as you drive(I lost a vibration dampener on the exhaust system with an enormous bang) and it's not worth doing any more repairs on it.
So this just gave me the perfect excuse to buy a new 2013 Ford Mustang convertible in candy apple red metallic (V6 Premium, Pony Premium package, grey top, grey seats, silver tape stripe, comfort package). Local dealer gave me a nice deal, and it will be delivered in about 8-10 weeks. Have been renting Mustang convertibles on vacation for many years...now will get to drive one every day. Plus I will get better fuel efficiency, a new car warranty, and something to drive that is more reliable and safe than my current ride.
Since this will be a daily driver car to get to work, I'll be buying winter stuff for it. It will need snow shoes, so thinking probably Bridgestone Blizzak or Michelin X-Ice non-studded tires or Nokian Hakkapeliitta studded tires (I'm in a rural area on a steep hill and there are often icy conditions in the wintertime). Also haven't decided whether I should get 4 snows or just put 2 on the rear axle (what I normally do on a Crown Vic but the new car is a different vehicle with low profile performance tires so probably will need 4). Plus will get winter blades, a car cover, etc.
Will post pix of the '66 soon and the '13 when it's delivered![Big Grin](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
