As you all know we are remodeling our house. The construction has only been going on for 4 days. Everyday after work we go to the house and check on the progress and my wife even goes there during her lunch break, sometimes. Well, on my way home yesterday I get a call from my wife she is crying , the first thing that goes through my mind is "what the heck did the workers do?" She starts to tell me how she got to the house, walked through the front door and immediately noticed how hot it was in the house. Now our house is open to the elements right now. It looks like one big room and the whole east wall is gone, so there is no way it should be that hot. She walked around and checked the heater(not hooked up), and then walked into the kitchen. She noticed how much hotter it was in there, and almost bunt her hand on the stove that had been left on.

I don't know how long it was left on, nor do I know who did it. I can't blame it on the workers because the house is wide open. But when I got the General Contractor on the phone I ripped him a new one. He told us when the job started that he would turn off the gas and the electrical that they didn't need. There was also an agreement that they would board up the kitchen and we would lock the back door. Well, that was not done either. If my house would have burnt down this guy would have lost his business.

I also blame myself. I should never trust anyone else with my home. I should have just boarded up the kitchen myself or shut off the gas when we moved out.

All right I'm done, I feel a little better.

Question

Wow, super scary stuff! Glad nothing was damaged. Best of luck with the remainder of the house preparation. It is headache after headache. But when it's all done, you can relax!~
