Stupid Question,
Being a "older adult", what is the deal, why can't you buy a PC and games and get the same thing for a much, much, lower investment.

I am not a "gamer", the last video game I remember playing was Miss Pac-man, and that was built into a bar table.

For the simple reason that there are no good games on this yet!
They just want to be able to say, yea, I have a PS3 and you don't.
If you want one, just WAIT... there are not good games on this piece of crap.

It's like the morons who overpaid for an Xbox 360... there were absolutely no good games for it! People were playing their Halo 2's on the darned machine for a good half year!

Oh, and if you havent heard... the PS3 can't play all of the PS1 and PS2 games! Another jab in the stomach for Sony. There is a list of games that are unplayable in the Japanese site, not sure if they have posted them on the US site.

And you wont have to wait in line to get one of these, and pay a ridiculous amount to get one (although morons are selling them for a bit more and even bigger morons are bitting), simple reason that there is going to be 1 million units on lauch day (11/19), and their will be even more by the end of the year (Nintendo actually cares about their customers, and doesnt want to screw them over with an unreliable console [coughLaunchXBox360Unitscough] and having to deal with scalpers).

 

Better to just wait till they get the bugs fixed anyway.

P.S. - Why the hysteria? I was not aware that PS3's had Shelby badges on them.

Well, I definitely have a preference for PCs above consoles, but there are some things to consider. Take a look at the PS3, which can be had for $499/$599 depending on which version you get. A $499 computer from Wal-Mart (please don't buy computers at Wal-Mart...) right now isn't in the same league graphically as the PS3, assuming you have an HDTV. And if you don't, I have no idea why you want a PS3 considering it's price. It can render games at 720P and 1080P which is the equivalent of 1280x720 or 1920x1080 on your computer. Consoles are also a bit more hassle-free, no driver/compatability issues, frankly I think that is somewhat overblown by the pro-console crowd, but it does happen. There's no install process either, pop in a disc and play. It also comes with a gamepad as well, an Xbox 360 controller runs $40 (and it will work with your computer) but it's not wireless (that's another $10) and it doesn't have tilt-sensing tomfoolery.

On the other side of the coin, there's the Nintendo Wii, which costs $249.99. Only a bit more than my last video card, and my computer isn't that great. Now it doesn't do the high-end HD that the PS3 does, but you'd be hard-pressed to get a good gaming computer off the shelf for the price of the PS3, let alone the Wii.

- In Massachussetts, a gunman shot a man in the chest and shoulder. The assailants are still unknown at the time of publish.
