A male country artist needs to cover this song with an updated sound and it would be a hit I think. Jamey Johnson could do it well I think.

Dirty, gritty Southern rock.
Love that piano, God bless Billy Powell.

I love that demo version, love the feedback you year from a mic too close to an amp/speaker at the beginning. Good stuff.
I think they were in their prime at that point. Killer music, great writing, great picking and playing.

My God look at that crowd of people that flocked to see these guys, in another country, on another continent no less!! That's bad ****!!
And just listen to those screaming Gibsons!
Steve Gaines!!
Life cut waaaay too short.
f
I don't know much about guitars, but I know Steve Gaines and Gary Rossington are playing Les Paul Customs, but is that a Gibson Explorer that Allen Collins is playing?

Epic song, written from the heart, literally, about what was going on within the band at the time. That's where great music comes from.
"Don't stick them needles in your arms, just give me one more blow boy, I know, I know, I've been there before". "One little problem that confronts you, got a monkey on your back, just one more fix lord might do the trick, one hell of a price to get your kicks".
Doesn't get much more self professing and prophesying to other people out there than that. You can't blast out a better PSA than that. These guys had everything, money, big lifestyle, fame, and using was destroying all of that. Prolific stuff.

Got no particular place to go
My Alpine's pumpin' some Motown soul
Rockin' to a Papa Was A Rollin' Stone
****, it feels good to be me
Fresh pair of kicks and my old blue jeans
I'll be alright
Rollin' these streets all summer long
My Alpine's pumpin' some Motown soul
Rockin' to a Papa Was A Rollin' Stone
****, it feels good to be me
Fresh pair of kicks and my old blue jeans
I'll be alright
Rollin' these streets all summer long
Catching Walleye from the dock
Watching the waves roll off the rocks
She'll forever hold a spot inside my soul
We'd blister in the sun
We couldn't wait for night to come
To hit that sand and play some rock and roll
Watching the waves roll off the rocks
She'll forever hold a spot inside my soul
We'd blister in the sun
We couldn't wait for night to come
To hit that sand and play some rock and roll

But no, I didn't roll like that back in the day, lol. I do like the song though
