what are you listening to ?
The Trashmen. Surfin' Bird.
It has a bit of a different connotation to me; Kevin and I would listen to this (and other songs) while prepping and packing for the next day's assignments. It was a way for us to let go of the anxiety and get ourselves a little pumped up to head back out in the field and do our jobs, which our CO's and handlers described as "taking out the garbage." We figured the band was appropriate. Plus, it's in Full Metal Jacket, which is gospel to any real Marine.
I still listen to it sometimes for that same reason, to kind of kick myself in the butt if I'm feeling down. It works a lot better with alcohol.

I love this song, but I can hardly stand to listen to it. Is that weird? I'm fine when it starts but by a few minutes into it the song hits so close to home that I feel sick at my stomach and I often have to turn it off.
Anyone else have songs that do that to you?

Such a great song, so well written. Doesn't matter if you like the guys and their style of music or not, that is a fantastic song. Could be adapted to just about any style, country, rock, soul, etc. Its good writing.
I would really like to see them live. Not sure if I really like them until then. Gotta say I like their style though.
These two songs are just really powerful to me. My heart races every time I hear either one. Billy Corgan is an absolute freak but also an absolute genius. There's no way you can't be moved by at least one of his songs. These two are my favorite.

I like those Al, but this is my favorite. It moves me on a deeper level. Gets to me in places that most people can't understand. Of course I'm a weirdo with a lot of ****ed up things in my background, lol.

Yep. I'm gonna have to make it up there one year. I don't have many good Mardi Gras memories. We have a really good spot lined up Monday night with some really good people. Hope we can enjoy this one with the kids. Bourbon street is a total cesspool and I think I've outgrown it. Were going to the garden district which should be somewhat appropriate for kids still.

That's what great about Mobile, its not like NOLA, its family friendly (for the most part, you have derelicts every where you go). Its more of the traditional celebration, lots of party type stuff that the adults can enjoy, but not lewd crap that you don't wan't the kids to see (even though boys like yours and my nephews in a few years will want to see, lol).

Not that I'm one to poke fun.
