Why isn't this at the top of the country charts? Well because they don't have a bunch of explosions and fireworks going off with a 20 person stage show and computers generating the sound and masking the vocals to make them sound good. Music is just about dead these days, the real musicians are **** out of luck if they don't look good on a CD cover. Doesn't matter if you have talent, they can fix that in the editing room and studio, just look good. The music industry has gone to hell, especially country. Tom Petty was right a few weeks ago when he said something that outraged everyone. He basically said that today's country music was really just "incredibly generic 80's rock music" and "bad rock music with a fiddle". And I have to agree with him.

I absolutely love this song. Have the David gilmour concert on DVD and I'd play this particular song over and over while working. The whole section from 13:30 on, the whole drum build up and all before the vocals kick back in is my fav part.

That's just your opinion. Ill agree that there's some really crappy stuff out there, but there's also some really great stuff as well. Its such a diverse genre that to call it all crap would be a huge misjudgement.

When one of these talentless women can sound like an echo of an Emmylou Harris, then I'd consider listening to it. The "country" I have heard is nothing but commercialized pop with a steel guitar or fiddle added in. Packaged, shrink-wrapped, assembly-lined, made-up noise.

That's the problem right there. You're comparing the old to the new when everything changes and will never be "like it used to". If it all stayed the same, it would get as boring as hell and those singers (like Emmylou Harris) wouldn't be as special as they are.

As for what I've been listening to lately, I absolutely love The Civil Wars' new album. Not exactly "country" but incredible music just the same.

The problem I have is how many of these "artists" write the songs and music they are famous for? As a general rule, someone you've never heard of writes these songs, and a record company gives them to these "artists", puts some make up on them, some skinny jeans, a big poofy hairdo on the metrosexual guys, blast off a bunch of fireworks on stage to distract everyone and suddenly its a number 1 song.
