Man masturbated at DMV office, deputies say
Edward Michael Alvin, 34, facing indecent exposure charge
An off-duty cop intervened when a man started masturbating in the lobby of a suburban West Palm Beach DMV office, deputies said.
Edward Michael Alvin, 34, exposed himself at about 11 a.m. Friday to several people in the lobby of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrest report.
An off-duty Delray Beach police officer who was also at the 571 North Military Trail office told Alvin to stop masturbating. Alvin ignored the order, deputies said.
Alvin was also arrested in July. In that case, he was accused of stealing his former boss' car crashing it while intoxicated, according to court records. He received pre-trial diversion.
Alvin was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on a charge of indecent exposure Friday and released later that night, according to the Sheriff's Office booking blotter.

A man claiming he was “spreading some holiday cheer” on Black Friday at the Mall of America was cited by Bloomington police.
27-year-old Serge Vorobyov threw $1,000 in dollar bills from the third floor of the Mall of America rotunda, as a choir performed “Let it Snow” around 2:30 p.m.
According to police, he admitted to throwing the money and had stamped it with his YouTube address, where he hoped the crowd would visit and help "convince his estranged girlfriend to get back together with him."
He posted video of his confrontation with a MOA security officer on YouTube. He also posted a video as to why he did it, saying he was having a tough year and was going through a divorce.
Vorobyov was cited at the mall for disrupting a performance and was released.
He could face a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct for the incident.

Topless barber charged with unlicensed cosmetology
LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) -- A woman who allegedly offered topless hairstyling services in northern Colorado faces criminal charges. But police say the problem isn't cutting hair without a top. It's cutting hair without a license.
The Longmont Times-Call reports ( http://goo.gl/Hh55PN ) 46-year old Suzette Hall was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of practicing cosmetology without a license.
Hall's former partner says she advertised $45 topless haircuts online.
According to the arrest warrant, the former partner called police about the topless styling because she "did not believe this was safe or proper."
Police weren't able to turn up any Craigslist ads.
Hall's ex-husband told police she set up shop in Loveland and offered services as "Rebel Barber." He told police she applied for "a nude license for hairstylists," but no such license exists.

I could have gone the rest of my life without reading this headline, and I'd have been just fine.

Starbucks goes after Mo. pub for 'frappicino' brew
Posted on December 31, 2013 at 10:50 AM
Updated today at 10:50 AM
ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – A Cottleville watering hole has written an open letter to Starbucks and mailed a check for $6 after receiving a cease and desist letter from the coffee chain over the use of the word "frappicino."
Exit 6 Pub and Brewery posted on its Facebook page Thursday night a copy of a letter they received earlier this month from Anessa Owen Kramer, an attorney representing Starbucks.
Kramer wrote to Exit 6 requesting they no longer call one of their beers "frappicino" because it "is likely to cause confusion, mistake, or deception among customers, who may mistakenly believe that Exit 6 or this beer product is affiliated with or licensed by Starbucks Coffee Co., when they are not." The name was brought to the attention of the company through the beer website Untappd.
Jeff Britton, owner of Exit 6, fired back in a sarcastic letter to Kramer and "Mr. Bucks." He explains he will no longer use the words "frappucino" or "frappicino" and will refer to them in the letter as "The F Word."
"When I got that letter, I had to laugh. I don't blame Starbucks for doing what they did, I understand why they did it and they had every right to do it. But I'm a small brewery, small bar, in a small town, that makes small batches of beer," said Exit 6 owner Jeff Britton.
Britton wrote the brewpub has sold "at least 38 drinks" in Cottleville, and never meant to deceive customers. He noted only three customers "checked into" the beer on Untappd, and enclosed a $6 check for the "full amount of profit gained from the sale of those 3 beers."
"We just want to help a business like Starbucks. Us small business owners need to stick together," Britton wrote.
