My kids have to change schools- School starts Wednesday. The new school is a good 10 miles from here-(current being one mile from here).One kid is in Elementary school the other in Junior High- TWO different schools and Eleanor the only school bus.
I can't keep them in the old school for a week.

My mortgage people want to close, my paperwork is done.
My realtor keeps blowing smoke- the house will be done the house will be done. We close this week.......
Meanwhile the freaking builder is on vacation.
Meanwhile 2- even though there is MUCH progress, the freaking house isn't completed. AND all the amendments- like black fireplace, we do the comm. cable........were not honored. I am ready to go nuts on someone.

Come to find out the house will be COMPLETED by August 15-which means this coming week. We need to be in it on that day. :bang:

All my stuff is in boxes- All I have out is couches and tvs. This house is rented out......
I have a Jack Russell and a New kitten who I can't bring to a hotel.....
Not to mention, worst summer ever cause I used my beach money for appraisals and Earnest money on the house I built.

 

Wish I could help! I live too far away, but my heart goes out to you and I understand. What about your family, can they take you in for a week or so. Even if they just take the kids and pets that would help.

 

Well of course we could stay with my parents........
MOst important issue... My massive amount of STUFF. I accumulated three tons of new stuff for the house on top of my other stuff I already had.I don't wanna rent a pod.

 

Make a list of all the things that aren't as they were supposed to be and if you have a copy of the building contract make sure you can point to where the builder failed to meet what was specified in the contract. Perhaps if you can show him that he didn't live up to his contract you can get a few thousand $$ back.

I'm not telling you to scream, and I'm not telling you to sue, because you'd lose if you did. He surely substantially complied with the contract, which is good enough for courts. But what I am saying is if you can show how many areas he screwed up on he may be willing to give a price break to keep you happy. After all, I bet he already knows you to be a vocal customer not afraid to speak her mind. So may as well continue to be vocal and hope he realizes he can gain a bad reputation from that.

All else fails- I'm gonna have my Dad talk lots of crap about him around town with his contractor friends.

This is a freaking nightmare.

I like "clean" and not having the things I love around does not inspire me to clean. I feel like I am living in a hotel right now.

Poor Eleanor too.......Over in that muddy mess and all this rain, she has suffered.

 

See if they contractor will off set your cost for POD and motel cost. It is the least he can do. I an sure that this has happened before.

 

Pretty much what I'm saying, price break or he suffers from a bad reputation.

Go get him!!! I know I wouldn't want April sic-ed on me.

 

Its finally coming along nicely. I just returned from there.
I can 100% say there is NOTHING left but floors and doorknobs and sod.

 

Thats sounds good , so the doornob did something

 

As in I would hate to shove a doorknob up the builders

 

It will be all over soon, and then you will sit back relax have a TMS house warming party, maybe I can get some nurse freinds to charter a plane and we could do some pit stops and help you ring in the new abode ?

Building houses is not fun

I like that Idea , but I suppose it depends on how its done ? I like the epoxy idea to seal it then maybe over top ? It the checkers will look good.

I'm thinking paint.....But the floors a ways off. My parents are using my garage to store some of their stuff till their house gets built.

This house has grown hair- I haven't cleaned it. UGH
My life is packed in little Liquor boxes(cause theyre sturdy and free) Looks like we are a buncha drunks.
I have a meeting with the builder this morning..........I better close this house this week- I don't relish being homeless.

OOOH we have to slow down- one of the richie houses in the cove needs work........Its gonna be at least 4 weeks.This is freaking horrible. Thats even two weeks out from the last possible day we have to be in this house.

PS- I am homeless. I don't like being homeless. I don't like being unsettled. I don't like my life being in a mess.

PSS- there is the EXACT same house on the rich side of the road with a bigger lot- Give me that one, its ready.I don't give two figs about a big yard- I just want somewhere to live. Its also $22,000 more which is already $30,000 more than I wanted to spend- meaning I could have paid CASH for the coveted Shelby for this all of mess.
Thank GOD for antidepressants- or I would be on the walls right now.
