VT wants to impeach Bush

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/20...nt_6006599.htm

WASHINGTON, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The Senate of Vermont, a state in northeast United States, passed a resolution Friday that called on the U.S. Congress to impeach President George W. Bush and Vice President **** Cheney over the Iraq war.

The symbolic measure, passed by a vote of 16-8, called on members of Congress from the state to introduce a resolution that would require the House Judiciary Committee to start impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney, media reports said. The resolution said Bush and Cheney's actions in the United States and abroad, including in Iraq, "raise serious questions of constitutionality, statutory legality, and abuse of the public trust."

You know, for a minute there I saw the subject and thought it was going to be Virginia Tech. Luckily it explained that it was Vermont and that Vermont is a state in the Northeast.

Well, if it was a big state like Texas it would have been 31 state senators.
Indiana has a whopping 50.
(VT is like our funny uncle, it looks like us but we don't talk to about it much.)

Now if only the US congress would do this. Seems to me to be a pretty big double standards issue when Clinton was impeached for his sexual activities and lying about them, where as this administration has scandals like the Scooter Libby issue and nothing happens.

Having a government that is accountable for it's actions no matter the political alignment is quite important for the well being of the country.

Thank Bob for this article. I've always wondered where Vermont was.

Kidding aside, I think it's great that people in the government are finally standing up and doing something. Impeaching him really won't do anything. But if Clinton got impeached for lying about a BJ, I just have to ask why Bush hasn't been impeached already.

I could go on, but I hate these kind of posts because they turn into a conservative vs liberal debate and nothing gets accomplished. I'll just state my opinion. I, for one, am glad.

Believe what you want, WMDs were there. CIA said it. Britain said it. Russia said it.

Obvious Bush hater and I'm not going to get pulled into your blindly rehash of moveon.orgs argument.

And I'll reiterate...slight difference of knowingly lying under oath and have bad intel from reputable sources and acting on it.

Big difference between cheating on your wife and starting a multi-billion dollar war in which over 3,000 American soldiers are killed, too.

Last I heard the CIA said there weren't any there... besides, what makes you so sure Saddam even would use them on us?

I don't have a problem with him having adultery, I have a problem with the President of the United State lying under oath what you think is a minor indescretion. If he's so willing to lie about something so "minor" what is/was to prevent him from lying about "major" things?

Those 3,000 lives over 4 years have saved how many Americans? We lost that many civilians in one day, remember? How many more would be lost if we left terrorist and terrorist states unchecked?

I suppose WWII was a failure too? We lost how many soldiers in those 4 years?

Saddam wouldn't use them on us directly, but there's documents stating that terrorists were training in Iraq. Saddam was shooting at us despite a cease fire. So what's to stop him from selling it to those terrorist to take out an American target? I don't think any country in its right mind would publically use a WMD on us because that's certain suicide. But if an organization with no home port does...who do you strike back at?

There's plenty of evidence to the contrary about what the CIA knew. Even Clinton said Iraq had WMD in development during his tenure. Get off the party line and do some honest research.

you might think this stuff (impeachment resolutions, and etc) is entertaining but it only emboldens the enemy.
