Are Teens Losing Interest in Cars and Driving?
Well my parents know the owner of the insurance place,(not the whole company), they have had the same insurance company for over 20 years and never once got in a wreck thats why mine is so low..
...you just can't help yourself, can you? The guy you're talking to both designs and builds houses for a living. He's pretty **** good at it too, judging from what he has in his garage and the size of his house. I know you didn't realize this, but when you pull stuff out of your *** and throw it on a message board, you're going to look like a dip****. Quit while you're ahead. Nobody believes the nonsense you're putting up here. Tip your hat, go live another ten years, then come back with a healthy dose of reality.
Hopefully my boy will be born in about 8 weeks. I'm planning to have my 03 GT for him, but build it with him as he's old enough. He will learn to drive stick in that car, and learn to respect it. If he doesn't want it, I'll be teaching him to work for his money starting at 4-5 years old, with chores and an allowance.
I work for an insurance company. 16 year old with 300+hp V8 and RWD? Hell no! Our algorithm to determine premium might off itself! Or just charge you an arm and a leg because statistics will show you the chance of you getting in an accident with a car like that (not to mention you being 16-18 years old) are ridiculously high. On another note. My parents bought me a 2005 Mazda 6 for my first car. They didn't get the V6 because they felt I couldn't handle the power. It's a common, and very valid, thought process.

Not meaning to jump a thread that's been unresponsive for a couple days, but I just felt compelled to say that I don't see a lack of interest in cars and driving at all where I'm from. I grew up on a farm/ranch my entire life and call a town of about 600 people my home. There's a great interest in cars where I come from. It could be different in a larger area or maybe my town is just a special case, but when I attended high school I could have in intelligent motor head conversation with a majority of my peers. I know two guys who knew their way around a vehicle better than some mechanics I've talked to. Just because that's what they grew up around and loved. As for driving it has dropped off, but purely because it is just too expensive now. Gas is $3.00+ in most places and high school kids just can't afford to drive all day long and mod their vehicles like they could previously. I would have loved to drive and drive and drive when I was in high school but I just didn't have the money. Plus, I would help my folks out as much as I could in our place. "My" first car was an 07 six banger stang that was charcoal grey with white Le Mans stripes and white rockers. I never truly owned it technically it was my mom's but at least I got to drive it right? My car now I won in a bet with my mom. When I was in second grade she told me if I graduated top of my class and had a full ride she would buy me a new car. I ended up having the only 4.0 in my class (I wish I could have taken weighted classes but did have a lot of college credit, about 25 hours) and had a full ride academic scholarship. So she held up and I ordered my 2014 Ingot Silver GT in July. Now I'm on my way to a human biology degree before going to med school to become a PT. So please don't think all of the youth of America is tainted. It's more about how you were raised in my opinion. Sorry for the life story just felt like I needed to get a good story out there.

@FullRide14: I promise you that I don't think that all (or even most) of the youth of America is tainted; I only have to look at my own grandkids for confirmation of that. But IMO, you are far above the "average" U.S. teen, and for that, I congratulate you. You seem to have your head on straight, and have set and met or exceeded those goals. I predict a glowing future for you, so keep your eyes on the prize and keep moving forward!
