Are Teens Losing Interest in Cars and Driving?
First, there are so many things wrong with this post, not to mention the rest of your posts in this thread that I don't even know where to begin. So I won't. All I'll say is, if you honestly think the way you post, God help you.
Can it be done? Yes. Is it done? Yeah...about as often as flawless, ten-carat diamonds are made. The point is that there is a reason better than 99 of 100 kids drive hand-me-downs and beaters. There's also a very good reason insurance companies charge kids a car payment every month to insure them.

What time does the ***** measuring start?
I own a 2003 gt and a 2005 gt convertable, ive went 165mph before.. at a track. just because your young does not mean your stupid and it really shows your not stupid if you've worked so hard to grt that car, the things i see teens do with cars there parents gave them and they dont care about is pretty sad.. when i was in vegas with my family(cross country trip) we rented a lamborghini for one day( it was half off it costed $500 also had to have insurance and background check) they let me drive it. If you baby your kids, your kids will grow up soft.. you have to let them do whst they want as long as its not crazy or out of hand the worst thing my parents could ever do is stop me from geting or customizing my cars, my dad grew up a drug addict(hasnt done anything in 20 years) and cars building cars dixing them loving them keeps kids out of trouble if you love your car you wont be stupid wi5h it.. yes theres people who die in crashes that love there cars bur theres people who die from everything else also.. My town was destroyed by a tornado a month and a half ago (washington,il) i would nuch rather be conserned with my kids about tornados than what car they own and 26 year olds atleadt the people im around are not kids, hell im already engaged and looking at where to move when i turn 18 in less than a year, i couldnt be a prouder dad than if my kid had a 500hp car as there first car.. and the only way theyll get thst is if there a good smart kid.
I guess I'm a bad parent then. I would not throw the keys to a 400hp beast to my 17 year old daughter.
It has to do with "experience." She is not equipped to handle that machine at her age. She has not faced enough "real world applications, scenarios and driven defensively" for long enough time to convince me that she can handle a car of that power in the inconstant everyday road conditions.
I'm not alone here as that is the reason insurance is high for minors. Apparently, the insurance companies think the same way as I do. Lol
500hp proud father? Why stop there. Heck get a crotch rocket with a Boba Fett jet pack strapped to your back. Lol
I work for an insurance company. 16 year old with 300+hp V8 and RWD?
Hell no!
Our algorithm to determine premium might off itself!
Or just charge you an arm and a leg because statistics will show you the chance of you getting in an accident with a car like that (not to mention you being 16-18 years old) are ridiculously high.
On another note. My parents bought me a 2005 Mazda 6 for my first car. They didn't get the V6 because they felt I couldn't handle the power. It's a common, and very valid, thought process.

I'm not saying you will. But statistically you have a better chance of making a bad decision.
And insurance that low is probably only low because the coverages are crap. I could be wrong. But it's an educated guess.

Another factor nobody mentions is that in my State they legally limit the number of hours a kid can work so it's not like they can work multiple jobs and make all kinds of money to buy a nice car. These days the gov't has its foot on your throat if you're a teenager. When I was a kid we had way more freedom.
^ this. I started working for pepsi when.I turned 16 back in 06. I made well over minimum wage at the time. Was able to work all the hours I wanted part time and pulled a ton of 50+ work weeks. Then they raised minimum wage in iowa all the way to what $7 or $7.25. Luckily I had been there awhile so I was still at like 8.75 which was a far smaller pay gap compared to min wage when I started which sucked, anyways another year goes by and now I can no longer work more than 32 hours a week part time because they would have to offer benefits. There goes my overtime pay and any more even 40 hour weeks. Hardly spent any money other than a lot for gas since I would drive around a lot back when it was cheap. Had enough saved up to get an 04 V6. Took out a loan and paid it off early. Never could have afforded a V8 mustang between insurance and car payment, unless it was a really old car. even though I had a good paying high school job it just wasn't enough especially how high the cost of every thing has gotten. But I also didnt have million dollar mansions by me to mow their lawns or clear their snow lol

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! This country is going to hell because it is run by a bunch of old farts while we have a vast quantity of teenagers who know EVERYTHING and could do a much better job.
