Can it be done? Yes. Is it done? Yeah...about as often as flawless, ten-carat diamonds are made. The point is that there is a reason better than 99 of 100 kids drive hand-me-downs and beaters. There's also a very good reason insurance companies charge kids a car payment every month to insure them.
Idk where you grew up but here very few people have handy down clunkers stop thinking your all right because you only know what you know. You have no idea hoe people live and things are in other parts of this country and obviously your part if way diffrent i dont drive a handy sown clunker i have 2 cars that i have about 20k in between them. You obviously are to jealous or something of thst matter thst you didnt have thst so you have to judge and hate anyone who does. Hell when my dad grew up there was a kid at his highschool with a car that was on hotrod magazine and built himself, and had over 50k in back then. Not everyones life in this world is the same as yours. Yeah most kids dont have a brand new gt or 2 mustanga or what not but theres millions and some do and some of those people earned it themselfs. I bet ive done more in my life than youve done youe whole life judging by what you said. People like you ruin americas small companys because you cant stand when someone is doing better than you are or once did you dont like it make a change for it but dont act like a jackass because of it.

If you baby your kids, your kids will grow up soft.. you have to let them do whst they want as long as its not crazy or out of hand the worst thing my parents could ever do is stop me from geting or customizing my cars, my dad grew up a drug addict(hasnt done anything in 20 years) and cars building cars dixing them loving them keeps kids out of trouble if you love your car you wont be stupid wi5h it.. yes theres people who die in crashes that love there cars bur theres people who die from everything else also.. My town was destroyed by a tornado a month and a half ago (washington,il) i would nuch rather be conserned with my kids about tornados than what car they own and 26 year olds atleadt the people im around are not kids, hell im already engaged and looking at where to move when i turn 18 in less than a year, i couldnt be a prouder dad than if my kid had a 500hp car as there first car.. and the only way theyll get thst is if there a good smart kid.
I get what you're saying.

I guess I'm a bad parent then. I would not throw the keys to a 400hp beast to my 17 year old daughter.

It has to do with "experience." She is not equipped to handle that machine at her age. She has not faced enough "real world applications, scenarios and driven defensively" for long enough time to convince me that she can handle a car of that power in the inconstant everyday road conditions.

I'm not alone here as that is the reason insurance is high for minors. Apparently, the insurance companies think the same way as I do. Lol

500hp proud father? Why stop there. Heck get a crotch rocket with a Boba Fett jet pack strapped to your back. Lol

I work for an insurance company. 16 year old with 300+hp V8 and RWD?

Hell no!

Our algorithm to determine premium might off itself!

Or just charge you an arm and a leg because statistics will show you the chance of you getting in an accident with a car like that (not to mention you being 16-18 years old) are ridiculously high.

On another note. My parents bought me a 2005 Mazda 6 for my first car. They didn't get the V6 because they felt I couldn't handle the power. It's a common, and very valid, thought process.

I only pay just over 100 a month for 2 v8 mustangs 2003 and 2005 and im 17.. only acident is i was at a stop light and someone came and rear ended me so obviously wasnt my fualt i knew his brother so he just gave me 1500 bucks to fix it(ended up only costing 1000 to fix) the people who crash most as teens are dumb people around here atleadt its teenage girls who space out, my sister crashed twice and has a 4 cyl car, its not about how much power(unless you get crazy) its about hoe smart you are with your car the way i drive is im one with thr car i move it moves with me.. it does cost more money to grt your car to have a good suspension like that but its worth it you feel lile your part of the car.. anyways as long as your smart and know.what your doing know.about cars and so on theres no diffrence than a 17 year old and a 30 year old me and the people i hang with are not dumb, but i would say alot of teens are but i cant stand it when people say all teens yes about 80% are dumb and would do something stupid with a fast car.. bu5 it does not apply for everyone under 18 theres millions of teens and even if the % is low thats still millions of teens thst are smart with a fast car when there behind a steering wheel

I have been in the white house before.. the percent of that happening is exteremly low, but it happened just like how some teens just happen to be smart when behind the steering wheel.

I'm not saying you will. But statistically you have a better chance of making a bad decision.

And insurance that low is probably only low because the coverages are crap. I could be wrong. But it's an educated guess.

Many people think they're fully covered when they're really underinsured.

But I have to take your word for it.

^ this. I started working for pepsi when.I turned 16 back in 06. I made well over minimum wage at the time. Was able to work all the hours I wanted part time and pulled a ton of 50+ work weeks. Then they raised minimum wage in iowa all the way to what $7 or $7.25. Luckily I had been there awhile so I was still at like 8.75 which was a far smaller pay gap compared to min wage when I started which sucked, anyways another year goes by and now I can no longer work more than 32 hours a week part time because they would have to offer benefits. There goes my overtime pay and any more even 40 hour weeks. Hardly spent any money other than a lot for gas since I would drive around a lot back when it was cheap. Had enough saved up to get an 04 V6. Took out a loan and paid it off early. Never could have afforded a V8 mustang between insurance and car payment, unless it was a really old car. even though I had a good paying high school job it just wasn't enough especially how high the cost of every thing has gotten. But I also didnt have million dollar mansions by me to mow their lawns or clear their snow lol

At one of those mansions some 16 year old girl got a brand new maserati her parents got her the dang thing had to cost over 100k.. But most the million dollar plus mansions are gone now the tornado took a path strait threw them, those homes may look sweet, but they are not that well made.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! This country is going to hell because it is run by a bunch of old farts while we have a vast quantity of teenagers who know EVERYTHING and could do a much better job.
