i am blessed that i am somewhat mechanically inclined .. i fix things .. recently my neighbor threw away a weed eater that he had ran straight gas in and ruined the engine .. the man cant fix a ham sandwich .. i took it apart and found the piston to be galled up and the ring stuck .. i ordered a new piston and put it in but the engine would lock up every once in a while .. i googled up what may have happened and found that in taking the piston out of the engine i did not notice two tiny washers had fallen out when i undid the piston from the pin .. took it back apart and with a magnet found the washers and put them in place and now have a working weed eater .. i gave it back to my neighbor and said i did not fix it for you .. i fixed it for us .. recently my fridge quit cooling in the bottom portion and that was not acceptable .. neither was spending a thousand bucks or more on a new fridge .. a few youtube vids suggested that maybe the transition area between the freezer part up top and the cooling part down below was stopped up with ice ,, hinting a defrost was in order so i took out 4 screws in the top compartment and found the air pusher fan was rocking back and forth ,, i touched it and it started spinning away and blowing the freezing air into the lower compartment as it was supposed to .. if it stops cooling in the bottom again i know now to get a new blower motor for the upper section .. i have the pinto 95 % ready to go except i have not solved the problem of making the cable clutch pedal work with the z bar type clutch arm .. i bought all the mustang cable type clutch stuff but it was too different to adapt ..
for some reason for a minute i was unable to download pictures from my camera .. a quick youtube search solved that .. anywho i love my new to me washer and dryer my neighbor gave me cause he was tired of me having to fix it now and then ,, it works perfect for me .. but today i tried and old experiment from days gone by .. my Mother never had a clothes dryer and only had an old ringer style washing machine but after my load washed this morning i put most of it in my dryer and a few pieces i hung outside on my neighbors fence .. the dryer takes a full 50 minutes to dry a regular load and i was curious as to how long mother nature and 98 degrees and a slite wind would take .. like mama did them 50 years ago .. not really to my surprise the dryer sounded it was finished .. it plays classical music when it is done .. and those clothes and the things on the fence dryed at exactly the same time ..you have to travel up into Tennessee to see clothes lines anymore .. there are still some places without lectricitty .. HA ! ..
Willie, Can you take a picture of the little tag off of the rear end housing and axles that we got from you? Or post the numbers off of it? We are trying to figure out what Ford hat it came out of originally. Year and model. Thanks, Cuz...

in my house here in Massachusetts, I installed a high tech ultra-energy-efficient sun and wind powered clothes dryer: a big casement window in the laundry room, with an easily removable screen, and a clothes line outside .... worked great!
well i finally drove the pinto a minute ago .. pleased to find the trans in good shape and the 8 inch rear i got from Kenny and Greg works fine .. i switched to the 5 speed with being able to use the overdrive on my mind .. i dont think i will ever see 5th gear untill i change rear gears to something more near 3.50 ratio .. i did not know the drive ratios would be so different between a 3 speed automatic and a 5 speed standard .. it is not ready to go yet .. i still have issues the clutch operation to work out .. i have several pulleys and arms everywhere and some of the ratios are off a bit .. in order to put the car in gear my clutch has to be overly adjusted so that the throw out bearing is engaged way to hard all the time .. it will sit outside in it`s storage parking place for several months as i figure out where to go next .. is there a way to double the length of travel from one fulcrum point to another .. in other words my clutch pedal will not travel far enuff to make the throw out arm travel far enuff
that`s ok .. i found a piece of metal to hodgepodge up a bracket for a test run and have concluded that a cable type clutch will not work ,, i`m gunna let the car sit for a while and later look into a hydraulic throw out bearing system .. or swap to some other drivetrain to accommodate the cable .. it aint nuthin for me to swap an engine out .. it aint a hotrod anymore .. it`s just an old car that people like seeing when i drive it ..
my last test drive resulted in a wrench left laying on the radiator falling into the fan and the flying into the radiator poking a nice hole in it .. even more reason to let the thing sit for a few months .. plus the week that it takes me to get over being sore from crawling in and out from under the thing ,, i dont recken there is snybody who repairs radiators anymore but a similar one is on ebay for a little over a hundred bucks ..
would any of yall be afraid to drink 4 year old V8 tomato juice ? .. i have a full case of 28 cans and i have cooled down a can and test tasted it and it seems fine .. no unusual smell or discoloration nor fermentation of vegetable content ..i cut the can open and there was no corrosion internally ..the can says best if used by expiration date but all things say that .. i love V8 but i dont buy it .. interweb search does not give much info .. i know i would not drink a 4 year old beer .. but people drink 100 year old wines ..
I would drink a 4-year-old beer if it was a barley wine or a good strong imperial stout, they get "better" with age and the alcohol content prevents anything from growing in there
not sure about the V8, but I think I would try it just like you did .... as long as the can is not punctured or corroded, it "should" be good .... right?
in a Walking Dead scenario, that case of V8 would be a major score!
