And to top it off, my grandfather had a massive stroke today and is in a coma. Going to the VA hospital tomorrow to visit him.

That stinks. I got laid off for the first time in Jan 05 (of few months after I bought my new pony). It worked out good. I got a lot of things done I needed to. I got scared becasue I was getting near the end of my unemployment, but I got a random job working with flight simulators. I love the work and have been here for almost a year now.

For me, getting laid off ended up working out good for me. I hope it works out good for you too.
