Been covered already, but no. I found that out while building my latest PC with a 3930k and it booted up slowly despite the two 480Gb SSD drives I was using. It took over a minute from cold start to waiting on me, which was far too long with Win 7 Pro and the Pacific Ocean's worth of memory I installed, not to mention the processor's speed as well. Fiddled around, realized that it wasn't booting using all six cores, changed it and went from 60+ seconds to a bit over 20, and that's with a password. As Mette Lindberg says, "Supa....Nasteh." Now it's ALMOST as fast as the Shelby.

In Windows 8 they turned "Defender" into MSE. Just be sure to keep it updated. It'll update automatically through windows update, if you let it.

Speaking of Microsoft Security Essentials, in case anyone didn't know it - it is also free for businesses (up to 10 licenses).
I am a 30-year IT veteran and I cannot find a compelling reason to use anything different for workstations. Now, if they would revamp it for servers.

As for Norton, stay far away from any of their products. McAfee too. Trend Micro is a pain to deal with too. In fact, the only paid one I really like is eSet Nod32.

That's what I was thinking, but I guess that makes sense. I've got FiOS, and the slowest speed available is 15/5. I'd sure love to have the 300/65 or even the 75/35, but I know I don't need it.

Even using exchange, they dont touch the upload cap, only in burst. Now if they were hosting dynamic sites and stuff out of here, sure, but at that point it needs to be in a data center anyway.

I've got century link as well, and that's only because I have no other choice besides satellite. Let's just say my iPhones 3G is faster.

My CenturyLink line is an ex-mom&pop telco that started out at 8 meg synchronous and is now 5 or 6 down and less than 1 up. And it costs a whole $5 less! They are too kind.

After the last four years I will be sure I have decent internet at the next place. Of course I would probably sacrifice for a place on the water.
