Interesting, let me know how that goes.

It's an ok antivirus (I only say ok because i have only used it a few times),
AVG free and a anti-malware program (like malwarebytes) should be able to keep a pc virus/malware free, if you're just web browsing and stuff like that. Just make sure to keep it updated

AVG and avast are crap. For a free one, i run microsoft security essentials. Its free, lite, doesnt bog your system down adn stays pretty much up to date as good as the rest.

We run trend in businesses however, the network suite.

Biggest thing to know, no virus protection is 100%.. they are reactive software, rarely is it proactive. Viruses come out, and then virus programs are updated to fix or detect that software. There is always something new out there that your AV program has no idea what its looking at.

Sometime else to note: spybot is a great program, keep it updated and run the immunization frequently and that will go along way towards keeping you clean. along with running malwarebytes once a month or so.

If hes having problems in there, sounds like its time for him to come out of the closet.

I think it's ok. Good enough for average use. Microsoft Security Essentials is just as good. If you have Windows 8, I wouldn't worry about antivirus and just let MSE take care of it.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll be putting malwarebytes on my sis's comp and she should be ok (with MSE).

I've just had AVG on my laptop for the past 4 years with no issues. Only use it to browse, and I know what types of sites to avoid.

Went to the apple store at MOA. Current thoughts. Really like the Air's keyboard the best. Display is ok. Overall feels OK.

The Pro's keyboard feels like there's a little too much push to type comfortably. Screen really isn't all that great. And its chunky compared to the others. Somewhat slow opening apps. Definitely needs an SSD.

The Pro retina has an awesome display. The keyboard though has almost no push though. Its a bit uncomfortable to type on. Its extremely fast though. Opens apps super fast with no waiting.

Went to the Microsoft store an only spent a couple minutes there. All they had were a ton of tablets and a few Acer and Asus laptops. No dell xps. Just made me hate windows 8 even more.

Not sure where to go from here. Need to think about it a little more and try them out again. I was thinking I might save a little longer and get the MBP retina 15, but the keyboard kind of makes me not so sure. The Air is nice. I'm just not positive it will be able to keep up with everything I throw at it in the coming years. I was reading that it's not the best with lots of video editing, etc. I know I'm not doing anything that heavy but it would nice to have a little extra. Plus the display isn't as nice as the retina. I might get more into editing photos in the coming years and the retina would be really nice to have for that.

If you can swing it, the rMBP 15 really is the best thing out there with that display and flash storage standard. The keys break in a little bit. You get used to it. I can type 100+ WPM on my Air. When you see the Air and rMBP side my side with an older MBP, you see how thick it is and it's very unflattering haha.

Ya, it seems thin compared to my dell, but when you look at those two it's a bit chunky. Lol Plus I plan on having it a few years so I don't want to be that person with the dinosaur in a couple years. The 15" retina is only a few hundred more than the air I would want so if I can get some more hours in and sell my lights I should be able to swing it. Still would need an optical drive though, plus office and eventually an external HD. Don't need that right away though.

Sorry. Android >>> iOS.

I tried out my moms iPad and android makes so much more sense to me. There's no "back" button. Plus I love the keyboard on my DROID 4.

Anyone still using a laptop at all will be a dinosaur in a few years.

Yeah. Just from reading his posts, you can tell he really wants a Mac. His only question is which Mac to get.

I think you'll have an iPhone/iPad in no time too. After using your Mac for a while, you'll forget how everything works and think it's stupid if it doesn't integrate with your Mac.

Sure, in a couple months you're going to be complaining about your droid, coincidently around the same time when the 5S comes out.
Keyboard? Meh.

I honestly have absolutely no use for a tablet. It might be nice for watching movies or basic surfing, but I much prefer having a physical keyboard. Plus they're a pain to hold and type on at the same time.

My droid has it's quirks, but I love it. And again, the physical keyboard is so much nicer to have. I get so frustrated trying to type on the screen with my big fingers!

Still can't make it magically grow a keyboard.

Nothing is going to make switch to an iphone. I don't care if stuff is integrated. I don't want pics I take with my phone to automatically be seen on my computer, etc.

You don't have to use photo stream if you don't want to. I don't. It's annoying.

I know. I was just giving an example about how I don't want things to necessarily be all integrated. I just don't have much use for it so its not a very good selling point for me.
