E3 News
Who's been following?
http://www.ign.com/e3/2006/
Here is some un-biased news
Welp, some news I found interesting...
1) PS3 will cost $499(20GB model) or $599(60GB model)
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/706/706133p1.html
2) Sony completely stole Nintendo's idea of the tilt sensitive controller but is not as refined as Nintendo's ... thank goodness
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/705/705870p1.html
3) The Nintendo Wii will cost way less then both PS3 and XBOX 360... but they did not release pricing info. Maybe they saw how high Sony's price is, so they have some room to jack up the price some 50 bucks or so i think.
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/706/706173p1.html
4) Nintendo Wii's new controller will have a speaker. So lets say you are fishing, you will hear the sounds of the rod from the controller, while you will hear your sorroundings on your normal t.v. speakers. Great for sorround sound imo.
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/706/706147p1.html
5) The Legend of Zelda looks like its going to kicks arase!!! :P

I bought an Xbox 360 and I have to say that I am VERY impressed with it! I love the fact that I can download free trials of games, like I did for Battlefield 2.
That's going to be my next purchase, definately!
The PS3 I'm still not totally sold on. $599 is a ton of money for a game system, although I know it's supposed to be more than that (and yes, I would own both consoles and I'm looking at the Wii as well.), plus Xbox is supposed to be really cranking out the games soon....

And the fact that some of the PS3 demos were on pre-rendered video from PCs (like they always do) doesn't quite show off what it can/can't do.
599 US is expensive...that system is gonna be at least 699 here in Canada.
NO THANK YOU... all for a 40gb extra drive? Even the 20gb drive unit is gonna be at least 600 bucks here...
Wii (hate that name... but whatever... the games will be what I care about.. they could call it the Nintendo Thing for all I care)
It sounds awsome with all the little things in it.
- Speaker in the controller
- both parts of the nanchuk controller and wii-mote have tilt sensors
- controller shell eventually added on for standard games
- Virtual console cool... but most of us have that stuff on emulators anyway. (not me though )
- The Graphics on the wii were all on developement kits that were not finalized yet, so the processing power etc, could/will actually be better.
Now the other systems may pull me in..but not at the price points right now...
I have a great job, and earn above the curve, but I STILL would not part with my money for a console THAT expensive....(PS3)
I'll have to wait till they come down.
SO interested to see what else is lined up!!!
E3 is such a great time in the year, and with 3 NextGen consoles...even better!

Wii is a great name imo... of course I hated it when it first was released last week. But after reading why they called it Wii (Wii as in "we" as in all of us, which stands for all of the different types of people Nintendo will be trying to sell this system to, also because of the Nintendo Wifi and everyone being connected, and because the two "ii"s look like the new controllers), and after saying Wii a couple thousands of times, it kinda gets stuck like the iPod and Google names.

I Have No Life
We also noted that the game demo we were shown was a pre-prepared one, rather than a live play through of the game itself, despite Sony's best efforts to try and perhaps pass it off as such. Our inner cynics might ask why they didn't show the game in action if they were confident in the hardware (and the whole purpose of GT HD is to show the previous game taking advantage of the new capabilities.)
And I see the 4D controller as a last minute rip totally.
I don't mind Sony,
I just think they are a bit slimy in how they do things now, knowing they have a good grip on the market.
Development times/budgets on all these 'pretty' games can't save the fact that I spend cash on a pretty game only to have it suck frog butt. I'm not falling for that garbage anymore.
If I want pretty, I'll buy it for my PC :P
I just wish the newer system didn't cost a fortune.
One guy on another forum says he can't stand how people are complaining about prices.
Saying how with inflation yada yada.
Ok so in 3 years, it'll be acceptable to have an 800-1000 game station!?!?
Uh...no....

here is a review on the Legend of Zelda Demo!
It's looking good
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707152p1.html
And Mario Galaxy looks like a sure fire hit
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707184p1.html
Madden Football Wii, not just new rosters and better graphics this time around!!!
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707303p1.html
"In the normal game, you will need to snap the ball, and drop back in order to make your pass. To do this, all you have to do is take the remote control and flick it up to hike the ball, then use the control stick on the nunchuck remote to move your player. When you are in position you toss the ball, by throwing the controller forward, much like casting a reel when fishing. You will find pretty quickly that the motion is simple and natural when your mind is put in that mind set. As far as picking your receiver, all you need to do is press the left, right, up, or down on the control pad, or the A button in order to pick the receiver, and then throw your pass. In another method to make the play feel more natural, the speed of the pass is determined by how hard you cast the remote."
Can't wait to see how the sports game come out for Wii. EA created a new division solely for the purpose of making Wii games

Zelda is what I am most looking forward to.
I am a nintendo girl. I love my DS.....Wish they would bring back some retro games for the new platform like Super Mario Classic and Twisted Metal.

hahahhaa
My my how quickly things change
OHhhh and the other news is that N's next system will support HiDef.
I love how they do that...they are always one gen behind on things (wireless...hidef) but they hit it at the right times and when the technology is cheaper...and they make enough gambles on things, but not others... (gamble...DS...Wii...) No gamble (hi-def...internet connectivity etc)
Yeah, I can't wait either...
So many good games...and hopefully a great launch..not a 4-6 game launch like the other systems.

The PS3........They need to bring back Twisted Metal- Seriously. Just like the original only updated for ps3.
And Nintendo- I have been a Nintendo addict since 1985 or so when Duck Hunt came out.
I lost a good two years of my life playing Sim City and Zelda on the SNES...
And then I got the one after that.
Then I lost another year of my life to the gamecube playing Animal Crossing...
Only to be working on six months so far of being so addicted to my DS I take it everywhere. I love the wireless play- all 4 of us have one and on wireless games(except animal crossing) only one of us needs the game.
I even have all 3 copies of Nintendogs.
