Does ARCO gas stink?
#1
Anyone know about ARCO gas? I generally tend to avoid it, because I've heard it is the worst. I was even told this by my auto shop instructor many years ago. Is there any truth to this, or is it just as good as the others? It is generally about .10 cheaper as well. I was running on fumes this morning and I was forced to fuel up there, but I only put a couple gallons. When I was there I noticed a sign on the pump that says "Part of BP". Isn't BP one of the top tier gasolines?

Well the saying you get what you pay for is true.
Correct me if i'm wrong but i think that it is cheaper casue of the lack of cleaning aggents and other addatives that help your fuel system stay clean.

I've bought ARCO gas for decades and some of my cars lasted well over 350,000 miles with no gasoline related problems. When it comes to buying gasoline, it's not true that you get what you pay for. Almost every ARCO station has a mini mart inside the office--most stations do these days. ARCO uses the lower price of gas to attract you to the station in the hope you will spend some money on impulse buying in the mini mart. That's where their real profits are. It's like a supermarket offering chicken at 59 cents a pound. It's a loss leader, and they hope you'll fill your shopping cart with other items.
There's nothing wrong with ARCO gas.
