Try checking the GTR forums. There are stories of people killing the transmissions using the Launch Control feature. BTW, using that feature requires disabling the VDC, which in turn voids the powertrain warranty. And you wonder why the GTR owner's manual has a page with 7 transmission replacement cards... cost to replace transmission? $20,000. GTR - will break if driven as designed. USA FTW. Okay Ford, time to step up.

Not to be the unamerican commie killjoy, but this is a silly comparo. The GT-R is priced and specced against the Z06, not the ZR1. Reminds me of the Z06 vs GT-500 tests: complete Bull because they're not really peers. If there's no V-spec yet, then just talk toss the head-to-head and talk about how the ZR1 is peerless instead. Hey, good news, the car that costs $38,000 more won. I'd have serious doubt about the competence of Chevy if it were even close.
Post Script:
That's just sad. We can talk "bang for your buck" all day long but anyone that can afford $118,520 is going to have plenty of options for vehicles that don't have the above. Sure, people will still buy the ZR1 on performance alone, and they can spend more money on top to replace the seats, but at $118,520 you just shouldn't have to put up with that crap.
Post Script:
The steering column shudders so much that we actually think there might be a flat tire at one point (a faulty tire-pressure warning sensor isn't helping), while the driver seat is a shapeless blob of leather and foam better suited to watching 12 straight hours of Saturday college football than a 200-mph supercar.
We also notice that the steering wheel appears to be the same unit used in the Cobalt. What, the suede-wrapped wheel used in the $70K Cadillac CTS-V is too expensive? It seems hard to believe given our Corvette's as-tested price of $118,520. Then again, this price includes the truly tasteless chrome wheels, a $2,000 option. Here's hoping for a chrome-stripping desert sandstorm on the way home.

The new GTR just doesn't "get it" anymore. A comparison with the Z06 would be better matched, but still the Vette would smoke it, and a GT 500.

I'd like to see the Z06 clubsport go against the GTR.
Even though they are exact model lineups they are the toughest of whats available from the States and Japan that you can buy off the lot.
