These guys are still stuck in the philosophy that if you sell the most cars you build the best product.
They refuse to accept the information that has been reported by countless experts that Toyota does not build the best product. All they see is what they want to see and believe.
BC_Shelby, you can shout at the top of your lungs all day long your opinion but when it comes down to everything, thats all it is, and opinion, NOT fact.
Evil_Capri and many others have stated over and over that you are in fact entitled to your own opinion but just because thats what you believe doesn't make it fact.
By your own words you would be saying that GMC builds the best vehicles. Doesn't make much sense does it? But thats what you're saying. You stand there and insist that because a company sells more of a product that it is in fact better when it is not.
You're right BC_Shelby, I don't want to sit here and listen to you try and force your own OPINIONS on a subject down everyones throat. Believe what you want to, I'm not gonna try to change that. But don't try to force information that YOU have concluded on other people. In case you have not realized as of yet, your OPINIONS are NOT TRUTH!
Zoran, I take no offense to what you said but you of all people should know that Toyota has had A LOT of issues and are not as perfect as people think. You were the one who posted the topic about the sludging engines, remember?

Isn't that the reason why all Ford guys are saying that F-Series is best truck? Because it was best seller for 29 years?

Yeah, I did post that. Toyota may have some issue, but they have a lot less issues than Ford. Othervise, Camry wouldn't have increased sales each year while sales of Ford's cars (other than Mustang) and lower and lower each year.

I also had 1992 Escort (4-cyl) and 1991 Taurus (V6). Nothing but trouble (Escort with engine, Taurus with everything else). Mustang is doing OK for now (33,000 miles), although gas mileage is killing me (not even as close as Ford advertised~20 mpg in the city) and I had problem with theft system. That is 4 domestic cars that I was not satisfied with it - only 1 import that I'm more than happy with.

And I am not saying that your Camry is a bad vehicle at all. But from what a lot of reports have concluded for the newer model vehicles, it seems like Ford is of higher quality. For your year (1995?) yours may be better.
As for your Mustang, I think you need to have it looked at. Have you taken it to the garage that you said you were going to yet?
You may need a standard tune-up. Contrary to what ANY car company says it is always a good decision to have a tune up done, especially on a used vehicle.

I'm not afraid to admit that during the late 90's the F-150's were not the best truck on the road. Chevrolet built a much better truck during those years. Chevy was better in both safety and quality. Now when Ford changed over to the new design the tables turned and Ford once again has the best truck on the road.

And the mpg with your mustang is not Fords fault. That would be your driving.
My 1999 GT did 20mpg city. If i was playing around all the time it went to about 15mpg... but for normal everyday i'd get 18-20 city driving. And the highway would do 27mpg.

Yeah, I took my Mustang to Ford dealer few weeks ago. They couldn't find anything wrong. They said they reset the computer, gas mileage improved little bit (currently around 14 mpg), but its still far away from 20 mpg that Ford said. And I'm not even driving that car hard, I always shift gears under 2,500 RPM. Trust me, 80-years-old grandma is driving her Buick harder than I drive my Mustang.
I'm gonna keep it until my brother get his license (he's 14.5 now). I should finish college by the time he gets his license; I'm buying 2007 Chevy Tahoe or Suburban then.

Take it out on the highway and really open it up. If you don't already have one, get a K&N airfilter, they really do help your gas mileage.

Also try revving the engine past 2500 rpm. Open it up a bit. You may be bogging it down even though you are trying to save gas.

Highway gas mileage is not a problem, I could get around 30 mpg on highway. City mileage is a problem.

Like what? Like I said, I always shift gears at low RPMs, A/C is off most of the times.

Try what andy suggested first. You might be boggin the engine.
You should be able to hear the engine and feel what its doing. If you shift at 2500 in some gears that puts you at like 1500 in the next gear... You should be able to feel it in the responsiveness in the gas peddle if you are bogging or not

I'm gonna give it a try. I'm going to the basetball game with my friend now and I have long driving so we'll see how its works.

The fuel economy is based on a federal test procedure dictated by the US government. The drive cycle for the city and highway tests are based on an actual drive route. The government needed something to make all the manufacturers vehicles fuel economy numbers correlate so this is what you get. You make it sound like Ford is screwing you because its advertised fuel economy is higher than yours. Well, no kidding! The numbers are courtesy of the US government, ever know them to get anything right?
