Rear drum replacement 2000 dodge grand caravan
Is this a difficult task? I need to do it to pass inspection. Just drums and not the pads.

That should be fairly simple, as long as the drums come loose from the hub easily. Sometimes it is necessary to knock the drums loose with a 3-pound hammer if they are really stuck. Also, there might be a few clips on the wheel studs that are used to hold the drum in place at the factory, those clips can be cut off and tossed, they aren't needed.

Has me wondering too.
What's the story behind the story?
In other words, why not the shoes too?
I find that it is better to put new shoes with new drums.
While I admit to sometimes just putting new shoes with low mile drums (sometimes even without turning them),
I have never put on new drums without new shoes.
