Putting the drive back into the act of driving.
#2
I agree, there are too many thing on new cars that take driving away from drivers, making it so that less skill and attention is needed to drive a car.
People can get behind the wheel and zone out. They don't need to pay attention and shift gears; that would get in the way of talking on the cell phone and drinking a cup of coffee.
Then if they have to brake suddenly because they weren't paying attention to the traffic ahead of them, ABS kicks in. If the ABS doesn't save them, then front, side, rear, and backside airbags will hopefully help them survive the crash.
Personally I love to drive a manual transmission. It's one of fun parts of driving to me, being involved in the driving. If I had my way all, our family vehicles would be manuals. My wife can drive a manual, but she prefers automatics.
