The Plot Thickens: Tundra 'Shames' Toyota

And the check is in the mail. These guys aren't ashamed that the Tundra sucks, they are simply embarassed that they finally got called out on something. Many of their products have stunk for years now, they just didn't think people would ever figure it out. (Actually, I am surprised it took as long as it did...perception is apparently far stonger than I gave it credit for) Now what about all those the FJ Cruisers with the detachable front clip? Any shame over that one?

Interesting, however, I notice they (Toyota) are not too shamed to already be running commercials about the Tundra receiving the MotorTrend Truck of the Year award.
Still it does seem a ****ing admission from a corporation regarding a--what would you call it, a show case product? I give props to Toyota for aiming high. I think they really wanted to produce a truck that was the benchmark for the market segment. To have the product fall short at inception (the sorry frame) and to be plagued with numerous problems has to sting a might. Even more embarassing, and potentially more damaging to Toyota is the on-line petition created on tundrasolutions.com, by Tundra owners loudly and publicly demanding Toyota fix the tailgate failures on the truck that's changing everything.
What really amazes me is even though Toyota Corporate is aware of the problems, and concedes the product has been an embarassment to the company, MotorTrend still handed them the TOTY award, a tacit endorsement of the product. MotorTrend should be just as embarassed as Toyota.

Obviously Motor Trend has their head so far up Toyota's a$$ it isn't funny.
BUSTED...!
What IS funny is that "the Truck that's changing everything" may do just that - it may change the public's perception of Toyota and finally drive sales elsewhere.

Motor trend = Tools for their ToTY coronation for the Tundra. I renewed this year becuase they were bargin-basementing their price to keep me from dropping it, this year I think they'll have to pay me before I renew.

They'll probably do what companies like Hyundai do, blame everything on a few select Caucasian American VP's and fire them. Just like all these 'wonderful' factories they have in the US, when it costs them one dollar too much, they will close and move without notice. A good portion of it was paid by US tax dollars anyway.
