So far the prediction is the V6 F5 will be about a second slower comapred to the GT. The V6 F5 has around 273 ft/lbs at peak torque.
Anyways here ya go if your looking for a peak torque comparison
Mustang GT M5 18" wheels (final number is HP/WGT ratio)
2.97 x 3.55 x 320 = 3373.92/1.1358 = 2970.44 ft/lbs. - 241.39 hp/3540 = 14.66 p/w
1.78 x 3.55 x 320 = 2022.08/1.1358 = 1780.31 ft/lbs. - 241.40 hp/3540 = 14.66 p/w
1.30 x 3.55 x 320 = 1476.80/1.1358 = 1300.22 ft/lbs. - 241.40 hp/3540 = 14.66 p/w
1.00 x 3.55 x 320 = 1136.00/1.1358 = 1000.18 ft/lbs. - 241.40 hp/3540 = 14.66 p/w
0.80 x 3.55 x 320 = 908.80/1.1358 = 800.14 ft/lbs. - 241.39 hp/3540 = 14.66 p/w
Camaro V6 A6 20" wheels (gears I-V)
.07 x 3.27 x 273 = 3633.33/1.1950 = 3040.44 ft/lbs. - 226.19 hp/3741 = 16.54 p/w
2.37 x 3.27 x 273 = 2115.72/1.1950 = 1770.48 ft/lbs. - 226.19 hp/3741 = 16.54 p/w
1.55 x 3.27 x 273 = 1383.70/1.1950 = 1157.91 ft/lbs. - 226.19 hp/3741 = 16.54 p/w
1.16 x 3.27 x 273 = 1035.54/1.1950 = 866.56 ft/lbs. - 226.19 hp/3741 = 16.54 p/w
0.85 x 3.27 x 273 = 758.80/1.1950 = 634.98 ft/lbs. - 226.19 hp/3741 = 16.54 p/w

I think the Mustang is better all around, so that's what I'd want. But yeah, Ford definately needs to step it up
Those are probably their teaser prices to get all the magazines to publish newstand attention grabbing headlines like "Pony and Goat killer" leading up to the launch and generate buzz. When the S197 came out the buzz by Ford was "300HP V8 for under $25K MSRP". That lasted for a couple of months after the launch and then they pushed the MSRP up, twice the first year, IIRC. I bet GM will do the same thing to where the 300HP V6 MSRP is "just below" the GT to thumb their nose at Ford, but then when you option it out it comes out a wash.
SS, different story altogether - stock vs. stock we're gonna get spanked silly.
Camaro 1SS MSRP is $30,922. 09 Mustang GT MSRP is $28,005, but there is currently a $1,500 rebate making the Mustang GT $26,505. So, sticker is $4,417 more for the base SS than the base GT after rebate.
Factor in that there will likely be ADM's on Camaros for awhile, but you can get Mustangs for way below MSRP (closer to invoice) and that gap widens by several thousand more $'s. So, real world transaction prices will show the Camaro SS $6K to $10K higher than a Mustang GT for quite some time. You can buy a lot of mods for the Mustang for that kind of money (i.e. supercharger!).
Mustang GT is still the much better bang-for-the-buck, IMO.

you do figure that the 2010 v6 mustang will be $19,999 right?
If you pay an ADM on this car you have sucker on your forehead. I priced it at several dealers and two were within 1000 of MSRP for a base model 1SS. 31,9 and 31,6. Could have placed 1000 down to preorder but waiting on the vert. Just tested the waters. Of course 3 tried to tell me 5K-8K markups, one said he didn't know how much he could get his hands on one for, told them I won't be back to them. I know one I can get at exactly MSRP as well. ADM's won't last as long as many of you hope they will. Several on one of my sites have already placed orders many at MSRP. depends on allocation really.
Quotes from several on my other site.
A Dealer (also a sponsor) garuntees MSRP or less as well. And another site posted a list so far of dealers not charging over MSRP.

Wow the dealership i called only wanted 1000 and it was the first dealership i called and they dont wanna dick around at all..no mark ups MSRP
He said if more people won't pay extra then they will have to drop their prices.Called the other dealer he said msrp was what they will be selling the cars for i said cool be in sat to order.
Call the dealers or email them. I filled out a web form indicating I wanted the first 2010 RED camaro with the biggest available V-8 in the area. Two dealers called me back. One said MSRP and $2k down, the other said $5k down and $5k on top of MSRP.
I emailed a bunch of dealers to see who had available allocation, who was charging MSRP, and how much deposit was needed....I was in and out of the dealer in 15 minutes. The whole thing was done in GM's order workbench system and I was given a printout w/ order #. My salesperson said she'd give me a heads up before it needed to be finalized in case I want to make any last minute changes to my order.

And it's not just the economy - GM itself may be finished shortly (at least as we all know it). This could mean plenty of dealers closing their doors or downsizing commensurately. F***ing over customers right now is probably suicide in the long run for a lot of dealerships.
Yeah, Chevy's timing for the long awaited release of these "beasts" could not be worse. I was originally contemplating the wait until the Camaro came out when I bought my GT last year, but with all the unknowns right now on top of the fact I have a car that I truly enjoy, am very glad I decided to NOT wait.
