The parent company is British, and this car was intended to eventually be sold in England, but it never occurred. Note the steering wheel location for a hint as to where it was sold.

I was actually reading about auto industry in Australia few days ago.
As soon as you said British car in Australia I knew it was a British Leyland, because no other British company sold cars there.
