This car is really neat. Sounds great. Looks like a police intercepter.
Pros, Under 36K, lots of room, Full chassis, Performance suspension, D-exhaust, 18 inch wheels. Rides really well. Turns pretty good, with instant response on the throttle. B)
Knocks, Sales guy said it did not come in a standard! Is this true?, limited color options, but black looks the best anyway. B)
I took my friend over to convince him away from a GTO purchase. He wants more interior room, and this car has a lot of it. Room for four golf bags in the trunk.
The only person that I know who owns one is a Fairfax County Police officer.
Sales guy tells me that several local cops have bought them.

the fact that the marauder looks like an undercover police car has an advantage....... im sure people tend to get out of your way. how many times have you changed lanes when there was a white crown vic or some other cop lookin car behind you?

In fact I joked with my friend about that very fact. For 15 dollars you could put blue bicycle reflectors in the back window and yellow ones behind the front grill.
My friend thought of buying from the factory, a front end crash guard!

Black ones are awesome.
I acctually saw one at the track once that had a KB blower on top. It was clicking off 12's on street tires and a few times it broke loose mid way through 2nd gear and would get sideways.
They dont come in 5-speeds, only auto's. one heck of a sleeper though!

I would not make the maurader a wannabe cop car.. it is just too cool as it is.
go to an auction, buy a used crown vic and then put all the goodies on it :cop2: :cop:
If you want a good laugh go read the crown vic forums on BON... bunch of dummies making fun of each other pointing out police impersonators.

I was amazed, the first time I saw this car, at just how Bad-**** the front end looks. Its not really all that different from the standard Marquis, but its got that X-factor that just makes you drool.

I've noticed you can get great performance from a Marauder and a Hemi 300C for the same price as you'd pay for an underwhelming GTO.

Old thread but didn't see the need to create a new one.
Local Paper has 04 Marauder for $23,995.
I was interested, but then I went to the Mecury Maruader Club web site and started reading the forums there and changed my mind. I don't see these type of comments from 05 Mustang owners:

Has anyone else noticed a lack of performance with the new Marauder?
I've just received mine, have driven it for a couple of weeks, and am very dissapointed with it's performance. I expected much more...
Had it dyno'd, and it showed 285hp, good for about 235 hp at the wheels. Merc claims 300 - 302 hp! What gives? Is this going to be another issue like the Cobra problem a couple years back?
I also own a '91 SHO, and it's 12 year old 6 cyl can run circles around my new Marauder. It's ok from a 40 mph roll, but from the hole it's a dog. This car has not met my expectations, and I can't help but feel dissapointed.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any input would be helpful and appreciated.

I to am disapointed with the 'off the line' performance, but not with the whole package. I think that the low tourqe and heavy body need a more aggressive gear.
I've had mine since 11/02 and was also somewhat disappointed with off the line performance
I have had my Marauder for about 8 months. I think it
is a lot of junk and slow till you get to 3500 plus
then it performs fair. It handles ok for a tank.

The quality of the leather in the interior was better in the Marauder, but the 300C out-ran it, out-gunned it, out-maneuvered it, and out-classed it in every single concievable way.
Compared to the 300C, the Marauder is a joke. No two ways about it. :nono:
This is why I'm hoping Ford gets it right with the upcoming Fairlane.

There are MANY Marauder owners who would argue these points with you. Except for the one about the leather!
