Like i said before i bet the Srt08 model with the 6.1L hemi will go against the gt500(charger srt-8 is priced at 38k), and the Rt will go against an SE mustang or a regular GT mustang. Thats what im thinking IMO.
I agree and the SRT8 will be limited production and you can absolutely count on an additional dealer markup on them as well.

you can't look at the specs their giving for this CONCEPT and compare it to the mustang and complain about ford being weak. Common, all concepts are pumped up like that. What did the mustang concept have, 390hp or something?

Oh man that looks freaking awesome. There is nothing I don't like about it, every detail looks great
Mopar muscle has always been my favorite along the same level for my love of the Mustang. I just can't stop looking at it, an awesome modern rebirth of the Challenger.

WOWZA!!!!!

that is effing sweet!! i already have my mustang, so i think this might be arins next car lol, but honestly, look at it! its gorgeous!

if they leave this exactly how it is for production then they have an instant winner. i would buy one hands down. i see it as a near perfect tie with the mustang, only things that would sway my decisions are base V8 power levels and price. if i do end up getting a new car as a daily driver within the next 4-5 years i've pretty promised myself it will be another stang, ad GTO or a truck. and now im adding "dodge challenger" to that list.

I WANT ONE AND I WANT IT NOW!!!!

---BUT---

i think its VERY obvious that the folks at D/C saw BM's chops beforehand. this is "ticking" me off because i REMEMBER sending them an email telling them they should hire BM back when he first came out with the chop. i was kinda hoping they would hire him so they could make the car. <_< looks like htey got my message, but didnt like what i had to say, per se.

as much as i like this car, i really think they took alot of it from BM

dirty bastids

"ticking" is in "" because i got and the sentence didnt make sense so i changed it... lol

All depends on the price. I still think FORD messed up by only putting 300hp in the Mustang GT.
I agree, the 05 is a nice car but i wish it had some more power and a different computer program. On another note i love the new (and the original for that matter) challenger and can only hope it comes with a 400hp hemi and with a R/T package

Challenger’s Design Chief speaks out
Posted Nov 28, 2005, 7:00 AM ET by John Neff

Chrysler released a small podcast for us journalists in which Kevin Verduyn, the Design Chief at Chrysler’s Advance Product Design Studio in Pacifica, CA, speaks out on the Challenger Concept that will debut at the Detroit show in January. Verduyn claims that the design originally took inspiration from muscle cars in general of the era, although as these pictures illustrate it turned out to be all Charger. The concept does have a full back seat and if produced Verduyn says he’d vote to keep it two-door.

Speaking of production, Verduyn states there are no plans to produce the Challenger Concept, although a positive reaction at the Detroit show will bolster its business case. Quite frankly, we can’t imagine the Chrysler Group, of all automakers, would pass on this concept. The company pressed the Prowler into service with a much weaker business case and as we all know, the modern muscle car segment is begging for players.

Below from Mcleans.ca

But when it comes to market, DCX might up the ante in SRT8 form by dropping in its latest HEMI creation, a 510+hp 6.4-litre (392 cu in.) HEMI V8 which was recently displayed at the SEMA motor show in a 1970 Challenger R/T Convertible, no less. These two combinations show that DCX is in tune with North American car enthusiasts, and as usual will most likely commit the Challenger concept, 6.4-litre HEMI upgrade or not, to production.

And speaking of production, it's speculated that DaimlerChrysler will take a different approach to the Challenger than it has with the Magnum or Charger. While it would be built alongside other LX cars in Brampton, Ontario, Dodge's aim with the Challenger is to create a specialty product. When the car hits production sometime in 2007, expected yearly production would be between 5,000 and 10,000 units commanding a higher premium. If this is indeed true, there would be no need for a V6 variant; the Challenger would be all HEMI V8 through and through.

Considering the Brampton plant is essentially maxed out, 10,000 units sounds like all that could be possible anyways.

With those kind of horsepower numbers, the car will be far from affordable.

I was a Mopar fan for 20+years and that looks like a Challenger or Cuda to me, not a Charger.

Now this is a Charger:

Do these "journalists" know anything about what they write about? Do they do any background reasearch on their topics? But I guess all those big old American cars are all the same right?

Is it me or does it seem like people who write articles about cars don't know anything about what they're writing about?

Yup, just like the Venom concept from the late 90's and the Charger concept from a couple of years ago. Mopar disappoints me again. This is why I'm more of a Ford fan now.
Now if I could only get Ford to actually build and ship the '06 Mustang I have on order, I'd proabably never look at a new Mopar again.

:worship:

Challenger @ Dodge Forums

If this is the base car, Ford needs to take a serious look at the HP in the Mustang.

Hello Ford??? Any one home??!!

Well, at least these guys have a better pic of the front end...

But there's NO WAY you'll get the 425 horse variant for $28K.

The headline doesn't actually say that either. It says a Charger is available for only $28K...doesn't mean that's the 425 horse version.

Great find Gerald... I wonder what the article says... I too doubt the $28000 for 425Hp line.
