Do you hate Camry's

Alot of my friends drive Camry's, for some reason or another. Personally, I cant stand the cars, and wish they would be discontinued. They are a decent car, but people are getting to confident in the fact that their car may last a while, and get decent fuel mileage. What about that recall a while back? And what's up with Ford? They have a Escape Hybrid, where's the Fusion Hybrid, or the FiveHundred Hybrid. That's where they are losing. Well, does anyone else out there hate Toyota Camry's?

I like new Camry, but that's pretty much it. I would never buy one.
My mom have 1994 Camry 3.0L V6 with almost 140,000 miles. She bought it with 90,000 miles and other than regular maintanance she had no problems with it.

I hate pretty much everything Toyota.

Especially anything they send down an oval track.

Excellent driving appliances with the soul of a refrigerator and utterly devoid of anything resembling driving passion, though the V6 versions are real sleepers/Q-ships. I think the Camry's must first be approved by the Church Lady (old SNL character for those of less than a certain age) prior to production OK, lest "Satan!" steals away with the souls of all who drive one.

We have a 2004 Camry Solara convert...black w/tan fabric top. Sorry to say, it's the best car we've ever owned. Before we bought it, we tried just about every other convert in the price range, including Mustang. The Camry was head and shoulders above them all. It's a 225HP V/6. It won't win any races, but it's quiet, smooth, gets great gas mileage and the build quality is excellent. Another reason why people buy Camry's is the way better than average resale value.
Incidentally, the 2007 Camry 268HP V/6 4 door does 0-60 in 6.1 secs. and the 1/4 mile in 14.6 secs @ 97MPH. Compare those figures with some of the small block mid sixties factory muscle cars. In 1966, my L79 Nova SS (factory 350HP) ran 0-60 in 7.2 secs. and the 1/4 in 15.1 @93 MPH. Help!!

I'd take an Accord over a Camry any day.

I can't stand anything made by toyota. My aunt and uncle have a camry and it keeps getting into accidents. Plus, isn't the camry one of the top stolen cars?

That's just the law of numbers. I'll bet the GT500 will be one of the least stolen cars.

If you hated first one, why did you bought second one?

About the Camry convertible: how is body flex? I read somplace (Car & Driver/ Road & Track) that the Camry was the boneless chicken of convertibles - too much body flex.

Notice how they're RWD? - at least the older ("better") versions were! Compared to what Toyota has now, I'd rather have those, too.

yup (the older ones are the ones I'm talking about, mid-80's and before)! That is one of the things that make them so appealing to me... very low weight and rwd... a dream!

Yep, the Camry is a terrible car. Maybe that's why Toyota sells so many of them.

Guys, you're losing too much energy focusing on hating these cars. They do what they're supposed to do, which is to provide reliable basic transportation and sell in large quantities, which they do very well. Not everybody views cars like we do.

If you don't like them just ignore them. If you believe that these cars don't incite passion then ask why you're so upset about them. Get over it.

My wife just had to have a celica. So we bought a new one in '02. Total POC! Having said that, I have a number of friends that drive Toy trucks and they are pretty tough. Toyota has somehow built up brand loyalty like I've never seen. But my money buys American. Yeah, Yeah, I know, the Japs have factories in the US. Blah, blah, blah. My F150 has 90K miles on it without so much as a light bulb burning out yet. A fact I remind my wife of often. I'm going to talk her into a V6 vert for her next car!
