5.0 Cammer into a Focus
#1
I was just watching "Dangerous Curves" on Spike TV and they spot-lighted a brand new Focus 3 door that's been totally modified for pacing races at Laguna Seca raceway.
The Focus has been converted to RWD, has the 430HP crate Cammer 5.0 in it linked to a Tremec 3650 driving a 8.8 Mustang rear axle capped with Cobra/Brembo brakes. Top speed is reached at redline in 5th at 158MPH. Has a rollbar built in for safety.
Can't tell you how nice this thing looked. They stated the install was actually not that bad.
They need to offer this car for street use!

I'm pretty sure he is talking about the RS8, featured in Motor Trend, racing a lamborghini

did any of you catch the illustration of the next RS in November's Motor Trend? Pretty hot, 280hp AWD, if i recall correctly.

YOU can build your own pretty easily. Actually the pushrod 5.0 / 5-speed conversion sounds pretty easy, and I'd bet it could be done fairly cheap with a wrecked 5.0 Mustang Donor. You can pick up a decent Focus for under $5K any more... The DOHC motors are significantly wider, but do fit - just more work and expense.
What a beast!
