244 mph? seat of the pants stuff!
I was trawling aroung Sleepyfish and found this vid of the Mclaren F1 doing 391kmh (244mph). That is ridiculous! one mile every 15 seconds??
MClaren F1 244mph run
Wow! I can't even begin to imagine the courage and skill that it takes to drive a car like that at speed.
Did you see the video of the airborne Mercedes at Le Mans a coule of years ago?
There was another video of three cars on a race track. One hum drum car like a VW, another was a hot sports car, and the third was an F1 car. They started in reverse order of speed, and while the other two were making their rounds, the F! driver waited, picked his nose, scratched his butt, leisurely buckled in and then caught them both just before the finish line. It was filmed from the air, and the rate of closing was incredible.

That reminds me of a statistic I heard a few months ago.
Scenario: an F1 car is traveling at a constant 200mph while a top-fuel dragster waits at the staging lights. As soon as the F1 car reaches the lights, the dragster leaves. The dragster will reach and pass the F1 car in less than a quarter mile, just before the finish line.
That's NUTS!

I'm looking forward to it. I'd like to see it again.
Did anyone else here the "pop" noise just before he hit 390? I listened to it twice and heard it both times. I think I would have pooped my pants if I heard that while driving that fast.
