That's pretty light... about 150 less than an S197 GT IIRC. Plus they dyno at like 300 to the wheels stock. I know a guy who has one of that off the street runs solid, consistent low 13s all day long. Boner stock, too... still has a paper air filter.

yeah for no options. A fully options Z with 6-speed is listed at 3411 lbs

they do have more power then a s197 and given the fact that evan smith has run a showroom stock SS to a 12.9 is definnatly not somthing to overlook.

But It takes a special person that can drive one and overlook all its short comings like the driving position and interior that is some cheap that the plastic is so brittel that things will just snap off one day... Two of my friends that had 98 z28s would just have random peices snap off the interior like the seatbelt holder on th eheadrest or the power window swich panel.

Just a few days ago I went up against a 99-02 TransAroBird on the interstate late at night. He definitely had no mufflers and an o/r pipe because it was f'ing LOUD and sounded like CRAP. Anyway, from 70-100 it was a good race, he was pulling a little bit, but it hurt him that he had to shift. From 100-120 it was all him, and he pulled away by about 1 car length. I think the better aerodynamics of that sleek car helped, vs. our brick of a front end. (I also had the added weight of the girfriend with me, he was flying solo, but I couldn't use that as an excuse to the g/f cause I might have gotten hurt)

I think thats the biggest problem ive got with mine is the exhaust note. Havent heard too many S197s, but it doesnt sound near as good as my 5.0 did. A new cam and a set of LT headers should fix that though.

I havent had any problems with the interior quality (although it is definitely far from pretty). And maybe its just cus i came from a foxbody, or the fact that im a big skinny b*stard (6'2" 160lb), but i find the interior pretty comfortable. No problems on a 15hr drive bringing it home.

Yeah, my gramp's has an '02 Silverado and the interior is cheap. Nothing has broken, it just looks and feels bad.

I don't really care, it gets the job done and that's all that matters.

My friend actually just beat 1 today from a roll with his bolt on 05 GT on the highway. I think he said they went from a 40 roll all the way up to 130. In the end, the Mustang came out on top!! Good Going!
