02 Camaro SS
those ss are pretty fast..they got 350 HP stock and are prolly lighter than us too
It depends on what kind of race. Mustangs are better suited to race from a dig, from a roll it's hard to say because the ls1 engine's have extemely good top end speed. They also respond very well to basic mods. A cai/93oct tune, udp's, o/r mid pipe, cmcv plates, should do it. These mods are proven to make at least 40-45rwhp over stock and should be to get you a 12 second 1/4 mile pass on street tires as well. These five mods total about 1000 dollars, this shows it doesn't take much to make s197's an awesome car.

The '02 SS horsepower rating is 310. The optional SLP exhaust increased the hp to 325.* These numbers are as high as the LS1 in a 4th gen Camaro ever saw. As for weight, I'm not absolutely sure what they weigh but they are close to the third gen which weighs around 3600, depending on transmission and other goodies.

To compare, from the same website, here are the numbers for a 2005 Mustang GT tested at $26,675:
Curb weight 3523 lbs
300 bhp@5750 RPM
320 lb-ft@4500 RPM
0-60 5.2 secs
1/4 mile 13.80 secs @ 102mph
Top Speed 149mph
As far as that's era bodystyle of goes, that Camaro looks as good as any they ever made. Still, it looks like a mutant stretched Saturn. JMO. I'd still take my stock 2006 pony any day.

Gotta remember guys, the LS1 in F-bodies is underrated by about 25 horse, probably so as not to steal the Vettes thunder.
I've been thinking about a 93-97 F-body (LT1) as a daily driver... since an old Mopar is too **** expensive the next closest Mustang is not that attractive (94-98 (sorry 94-98 Stang owners).

It's just not going to happen.
Also, with the 6k that the camaro costs more than the stang, you could build a monster of a mustang that blows the doors off the camaro. The Mustang GT is not really in the same performance category as the camaro since the camaro's 6k higher price, bigger engine, and alot higher top speed. I would suggest comparing the Z28 to the mustang. It is in the same category performance wise.

Triple Post.
