But it is UPS's fault. Every other shipping company I spoke to has way lower or no "brokerage" fees. FEDEX and both postal services are $5.00 !!! Thats a huge difference. Today I looked at the shipping slip. UPS charged me for a declared value of 221.00 !!?? They charged me duty on their own shipping charge!!!! Then they taxed the tax !! Both of these things are illegal! Whe I called them to ask about it they said...."There are some hidden fees sir...." What a load of BS !!

hidden fees huh. I would have told them that if they are charging you and expect you to pay it, the charges cannot be hidden. I only deal with UPS for 1 reason. They leave the package at my house even if nobody is home to receive it. Purolator returns it to their depot which is 45 minutes away from my house, and they charge the same rate as UPS. Fedex will return the package back to the shipper after 2 attempts. I'd rather pay the fee for UPS than miss time at work. Fortunately for me I live right near the border and have figured out that I can now have items shipped to the UPS depot in the US so I can drive over and pick up the package. Only 30 minutes from my place. Then deal with customs on my way home.

I got dinged by UPS to the tune of $86.00 for brokerage fees for the $200 intake cover as well. When I ordered the $300 CDC Classic front spoiler, they sent it FedEx who then dinged me $95 in brokerage fees. Needless to say, I won't be getting anything from the US that won't go USPS ever again...

I'm just really glad I drove over to pick up my rims, tires and body kit. I can just imagine getting a $3,000.00 brokerage fee if I didn't.

The really maddening thing is, If you buy off ebay or the internet your mostly dealing with the US. So your stuck paying big BS costs!! I wish there were more Canadian people who deal in aftermarket stuff. Here in Victoria there is no one. You have to go to Vancouver...And that costs in ever escalating ferry charges!!

Maybe we can get a Canadian aftermarket thread going (Sticky) just in the Canadian section It may help people and keep the business here in Canada!!...Just a thought

I know this is probably in the wrong forum...sorry...Im sure a MOD will correct my mistake :worship:

Now for my RANT/Warning....
I just got a call from my son to say that my louvers were in from CDC So I was all happy...then he said that the UPS driver couldn't leave them because we had to pay some money  So I called UPS and they told me I have to pay....ready for this.....$ 86.06 !!! So I said, "For what"??? She said BROKERAGE fees !! I said, "Are you nuts? The parts are only worth $189.00 "!!! She said that the cost for filling out the customs papers was $86.06 and I had to pay it before I could get my parts !! So I paid 15 for shipping and 86 for brokerage fees totalling 101.00 for a 200.00 part !!?? WTF !!!! I will NEVER use UPS again !! I have since called USPS, Canada Post and FED EX and they all told me to stay away from UPS. The postal services and FED EX only charge on average $5.00...yes FIVE dollars for their brokerage fees !! So please....If your getting something shipped to you DON'T use UPS...They are a RIPP OFF !!!

END OF RANT
Hey Richard I only read this now And THANKS Ed

UPS stinks!
My girlfriend works at a winery, Owner had UPS for a while, until many of the cases of wine were received broken! One costumer said it looked like someone jammed something straight into the box because their was a big hole that went through the thick box,

Both my parents and grandparents own businesses and use purolator...no problems, except for one time they lost my replacement ipod headphones, fairly minor issue. I ordered a tester thing from Cali for a science project once and the ups border fees of whatever were TWICE the cost of the product. :notnice: A week or so ago we got new dishes from a place in Scarbourough via UPS. The boxes were ripped in several places, definitly bad for boxes with FRAGILE written all over them. Fortunatly the packaging on the dishes was insane, so they made it through fine. UPS is not cool.

PS I would love to see the Canadian specific aftermarket section.
