ATTN Canadians: Wheels ordered from USA?

My fellow Canadians:
Have any of you ordered a set of wheels from the U.S.,Ebay,or otherwise?
How was your shipping charge?
What about duty and brokerage fees?

I would like to order a set of wheels from a US company but I am terrified of hidden costs etc..
I was quoted $125.00 for shipping a set of wheels, but that does not include any duty etc.....
How was your experience for costs and shipping times?
Thanks for your input!!
Much appreciated!

Haven't ordered wheels.
But i did order a set of Tires from Tirerack.

Basically it's like this.
You will be charged both PST and GST by the courier.
Unless you ship to a Commerical address (non residential) Then you don't need to pay the PST.

As far as Duty charges go.
Any Tire made in the USA is duty free. Any tire that is imported (like Sumitomo) Jap tires. They you will pay a small duty.
I paid $60 for 4 tires in Duty for the Sumitomos.

I'm guessing the same goes for Rims.

So what rims did you get?

Hey thanks for the info CannonBaller!!

Not exactly sure which wheels yet,but 18" bullitts seem to be the best deal.Everyone has bullitts but you know bullitts just say:
"Yeah this is a friggin Mustang!!!"

I will have to check to see if the wheels are good ol' american stock, hopefully!

I was really concerned about duty and brokerage because a while back I ordered a framed print for a gift and I got Hammered with about $80 worth of extra fees, the print was under $100!

If you have them sent via UPS, expect to pay a ton of money on brokerage.

USPS is the best, $7 or something like that. Otherwise, doing a quick trip across the border shouldn't be bad for you either.

Avoid UPS though.

Definately avoid UPS. I bought my rims and tires in the states and just drove over to have them put on the car. A friend of mine didn't want to go through that hassle so he had his rims and tires shipped to him. After duties, taxes and shipping costs he paid over $350.00 total to have them shipped to his door.

I think even if I drive across the border I am still subject to taxes and duty, which is okay i suppose but the wheels I was looking at are made in China!! So looks like more fees if I go with these ones.
This is all really a bunch of crap,I dont live in the Arctic in some camp only accessible by bush plane!! I live 10min from the US border!!!
Good thing the Canadian dollar is so high!!

Thanks for the feedback guys.

John I did not put this thread in the Canada section because no one looks there!!!
