So.... Car's worth 61K... but these are worth 30K... which means I can get a GT350R for about $32K if I tell them to hold off on those carbon wheels and put some others on, right?
...right?
...right?

I guess i didn't realize they were an option and thought they were standard equipment. But then again I never looked into it really.

You guys realize the GT500 forged wheels are like $2k a piece directly from Ford Service, right? That doesn't mean it costs them that much to produce, nor does it mean that's what people will pay for them. Still, I'd guess a set from FRPP will be between $10-15k.

How much weight would the CF wheels save, and how big of a performance gain would be realized to justify the cost? I can't imagine any significant or noticeable improvement, especially if the car is tracked only occasionally by a non-professional driver.
I'd think that that there'd be other performance mods or weight saving steps one could make for far less money than upgrading to CF wheels.

That's just my estimation of course, but I'm guessing the GT350 will go 0-60 in 3.5 and through the quarter in 11.7, even though the horsepower rating isn't there, I imagine the loss of weight and much lower unsprung weight will help it get off the line QUICK. I know that's not the point of this car, but if Ford is going to scrap a GT500 halo Mustang, this one needs to at least be as fast in a straight line as the Hellcat and ZL1, and I think it'll easily match those cars, while running away from Z/28s on a road course. It's really going to be an all around beast. If only they offered a Glass Roof on it, I'd trade up in a heartbeat.

Shelby GT350R Mustang carbon fiber wheels Retail for nearly $30,000. A stock Shelby GT350R Mustang is expected to have a base price of $61,370, but if you want to upgrade to carbon fiber wheels you will end up paying almost 50% more as these cost around $30,000, so most likely only a few people will be willing to pay that much for such an expensive option."

The extra $13k or so for the R is an utter bargain, when you factor the CF wheels, carbon ceramic brakes and standard Magnetic Ride suspension.
In the past, the Cobra R and Laguna Seca Boss didn't seem worth the extra cost over the standard SVT mode, at least to me. This time around, Ford is clearly losing money on the R, but they are seriously dropping the gauntlet with regards to factory performance in this class of vehicle.

I'd like to read the original 6G forum post; too bad the article didn't cite their source. Anyway, after reading this press release from Ford Racing I wouldn't buy any CF wheels without the MagneRide suspension. So hopefully the person who paid $30k for these wheels bought a base GT350 with the tech or track packages, and aren't fitting this onto a Mustang GT or something.

So I could buy an R for $60k if I could find one and sell the wheels for somewhere a little less than $30k if I could find a sucker

Hum, 30k for wheels. I've seen a lot of forged wheels I would like to have for a lot less $$$.
