Well with my bigger tires and rims up front I needed a spacer. That meant that there were few threads to thread the nut on to. So I found two companies that made longer wheel studs. Moroso at $18 per wheel or APR at $60 per wheel. Moroso states that no spacer should be used with their product, APR makes no claim. I brought APR for the fronts and needed to use open end lug nuts. Well the back looked funny with the standard lugs so I decided to buy the Moroso's for the rear. The APR studs were ground down on one edge to fit pass the hub. The moroso's were not. I ground them down myself to fix. I measure the hole at .580 and the knurl at .615. Big different in size. But I try it with a air gun. Long story short I mess up to studs before I ground a little taper into them and they fit fine now. While putting the brakes back on I notice the ring with a missing tooth. Don't know how or when it happen but it did. And I still have to due the other side next Sat.

My last day of vacation(until my next one). Spent yesterday at Gingerman's Raceway being a flag man on corner 1. Man they take this stuff seriously. When your on the yellow flag you watch the racers behind you and don't you dare try to turn around and watch them coming at you. That's the blue flagman's job. These people came your hundreds of miles away to do this National SCCA Qualifying race. I stood from 7 am till 6:30 pm with only 5 minutes between races to pee. Everybody was friendly but it's not my cup of tea. Only did it because the club asked me to. Saw all types of cars racing so the day wasn't a total loss.
So today is my wife's day, also her 58 B-day.

What would you think of drilling a 19/32 opening in the hubs for the new wheel studs.

Opening now is .560 19/32 is .5936 and the knurl on the studs are .615.
or perhaps a 37/64 drill .578

46180 Wheel Studs—1/2"-20 x 3" Press-in, .615" dia. knurl and quick start dog end, fits most disc brake Fords front and rear and Chrysler front. Standard hole size: .606" to .613

 

If it were me I would drill the hole the the 37/64 drill and then ream the hole to the final size per Moroso's spec of .606 diameter. You can get any size reamer from MSC Supply or McMaster Carr. By reaming the hole you can control you final size much better.

Yep...the adjustable reamer is even better just incase you don't like the amount of press. Start smaller since you can always open it up.
