The C&L racer CAI requires a tune. Can I install it and drive over to breenspeed for the tune, or is that too dangerous?..

No. HELLLLLLLLL NO.. It'll run way too lean.. Glenn is right, install it in the lot. It'll take 10 minutes or less. Dont bother with the heat shield right then, install that when you get back home. Just get the intake installed.

I agree with Glenn. With in a few miles you will get the check engine light and the codes will read "right bank lean" and left bank lean". I know. When I installed my street C&L intake I drove it around the block ( about 4 miles) without the tune and before I got back home I had the CEL. So the safest thing is put it on after you arrive.

You can use a flathead screwdriver to tighten the clamps, but I think a 8mm socket works best. I got pretty quick at taking it off with a small 1/4" drive 8mm socket and a 6 or 8" extension. You'll need a phillips head for the MAF sensor in the C&L housing, and like others have said you can install the air box part later. Just leave it open filter and you'll be fine.

I do not remember the tools to remove the stock airbox. It's been 2 years since I did that.

Look and make sure of the screw heads on the MAF. I'm thinkin that somewhere along the line of mant different CAI that one set was a Torx head. But yet its a 10 minute job normally so for you it would be a 2 hours at least.

I promise you the MAF screws are phillips head, I screwed them in the housing before I packed it and sent it to him.

If you're really worried about it Cody, do a dry run at home without starting the car, then put the stocker back on, so that when you get to Brenspeed you can easily do it again without feeling nervous and rushed.

Yeah yeah it's all good advise, but here's what I would do:

Take it with you to Brenspeed and ask them to put it on before the dyno. I bet you breakfast some day that they'll throw it on there for free since it's such an easy job LOL. But then again since it's so easy, these guys are right you should just do it yourself. So nevermind.

I was so pissed....My runningback Steve Slaton was benched after he fumbled his first carry... he got ( -.90) points.. He is normally good for almost 20.
