But, we have a couple of options.

1. There are several picnic areas (without the shelter house) in the park that have freestanding grills and are first come, first serve. Since I live just a few minutes from the park, I could easily get there early and secure a picnic area.

2. Since the park is right next to "civilization", there are several restaurants less than a half mile from the park entrance. Culver's, Arbys, IHOP, Quiznos, Panera and several others. And down the road a mile or so is Applebees, Bob Evans, etc. We could meet at the park, then hit the restaurants for lunch, then back to the park to socialize.

3. Suggestions?

As for dates, if we don't reserve anything, then the date can be more flexible - October 4th and 18th work for me. There is even the 27th of Sept. And if this is closer for us, then are Sundays open?
Karen and I are good with this secondary plan also. We are also open to moving the date up earlier to get in on the better chance for good weather. Just a nice open place to B.S. with fellow stangers and a good restaurants to sit and have a good meal works for us. Come on and post your comments. Let's make a date.
Scott

I don't give 2 ****s what we do, as long as it's within 3 hours of Fort Wayne and has some kind of shelter in case the weather gets ****ty.

Any specifics beyond that is up to you old timers.

It is always tough coordinating events so everyone can attend. More so with a relatively small group that is somewhat spread out.

Some people do the coordinating thing for a living - it would drive me nutso.

My weekends are pretty much all booked up, have at least something going on one day from now through October, and usually been working on the Saturdays that I don't have anything planned.

Well, let's do the math... Uh, that would be a purse of, what, 3 or 4 million to payout?

Thus the need for marketing........ I'm kinda disappointed too Scott, I had a lot of fun last year. Actually I thought that most people had a good time. I know it's hard to make time and everyone's schedules are hectic, but still I'm surprised that we're over 1/2 way thru September and we have less than a handful of commitments. Seems like last year we had stuff booked and people committed before Labor Day.

Go back to post # 70. We were trying to zero in on Oct 18th at Fort Harrison State Park. You have already said you were a "definite maybe".

Did you miss my post that we should be attending? That would be Ben and Vickie.
I also have 3 at this time from our club as committed.
