X-Plan questions
#1
I am engaged to a girl who is a sister of a Ford employee. We are getting married on March 12, 2005. I plan on putting down around $8000.00 on a Mustang and I want to use her Ford family discount plan as soon as possible. Probably before we get married. I understand that it will have to be in her name. What do you guys and gals think? I'm trying to figure every angle to cover myself and my investment. I aslo understand that a Ford employee can only use is "PIN" for the discount a couple of times a year. Also what if it was her cousin and not her brother? Please help with input.

The X Plan is Ford's Friends and Family discount. In order to receive this discount, a Ford employee must generate a PIN. I believe each Ford employee can generate 4 PIN's per year (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Bring your PIN to the dealer and you will get the X Plan price.
If the car is bought under your fiance's name, I think you may be eligible for a larger discount, since she's the sister of an employee...but I'm not sure.
Does anyone know if a Ford employee's sibling is eligible for the A Plan?

With her sister being a Ford employee, she should be eligable for A plan,
which is 2% BELOW factory invoice. She gets 4 A plans and 4 X plans each year. My sister's husband is a Ford employee, and I've used the A plan, so your fiance should have no problem.

There is some information in the FAQ section of this forum, and also you can read a bunch about the X plan on the internet. Here is one such link:

To save a click, I believe that the following answers your question should your wife decide to get the car using her brother's employment relationship w/Ford (wow .. what a mouthful). Her brother will need to generate the PIN, and if I read this correctly she should be able to get the A Plan pricing. You could also try the X Plan angle, but this would not save you as much.

This is way off topic, I understand... but this is the perfect thread to make my plea. I/we need someone who either works at Ford or knows someone who does (hence me asking this in a post about x-plan) who can finally answer our questions about the wheels on the '05. Somebody at Ford has to know at this point whether the wheels from the previous Mustangs will fit the '05. My guess is that the show cars, test cars and even the mules that we have seen have the same bolt pattern, offset, etc. as the ones that will be made come job 1... why wouldn't they, right? Seems to me that someone at Ford could easily find this out, and if so, find out the numbers we need. Either way, I read on here that they are going to be doing a pre-production run of the asembly line... making a certain amount of Mustangs to test before going into full production September 7th. Obviously the wheels on those cars would be the same as the production cars. So, maybe someone at Ford can find that out before job 1 at least, so those of us who want to order aftermarket wheels will be able to ahead of time and have them there when we get our cars. Please... anybody?

The other way is "just ask for it'
whether you have a PIN or not.
Its 2% over invoice...they'll still make money.

It can be done. Don't appear anxious to buy it (like calling every day to see if orders are being taken, etc.). Shop around, stand your ground, walk away and stay away. If he calls you, you got him. If he doesn't, stop by in a couple weeks, try again, if still not, walk away again. You might casually mention that you are looking at something else in the same class and wanted to give him one more shot At selling you the mustang before you buy the other. etc, etc, etc, etc.
