Words of encouragement needed!
It is pretty sad when you have to hope you get a good one with more issues cropping up every day, like a complaints about brake pedals going to the floor at stoplights showing up today. That can't be good. What if the brakes did let loose and you ran into someone? Do people honestly have a blind loyalty to the Mustang when it is starting to show signs of a typical first year problem-ridden product? I realize many may get a great car, but that hasn't been my experience with the last Ford I owned. The 05 GT I ordered and almost bought had the rear gear whine, and there is no way I would want to listen to that on a daily basis.
The sample of problems on this website may not be statistically accurate, but it won't be far off. Think about how may people are driving the cars that aren't members of this site. I have a GT on order, but I can guarantee I won't take delivery of it if the rear end is making the same noise as the last one I drove. I didn't plan on keeping my currrent car as a back-up in case the Mustang had to spend time in the shop, because I was wanting to trade it in and pay off the GT. Now, I'm asking the same question as Jason.
I don't expect a Mustang to be perfect, but I do expect a quality car, and I'm not seeing evidence that it really is.

People can go on and on about this site not being a statistically valid sampling all they want...but if you think about it, it actually is. Whether you take a percentage of people out of 100 or out of 1000, the cross section is still quite possibly valid. And the point is that too many people PERIOD are reporting too many DIFFERENT issues - and that's the frightening thing.
People can also go on about the number of Mustang owners that don't visit this site that aren't reporting any problems. THEN HOW DO YOU KNOW! The reverse could be true as well: there could be many owners who don't visit web forums who are frustrated by problems.
Let's face it people: Ford's track record for quality and reliability ain't exactly the best. And for those who dis Honda and Toyota as having problems, too...yeah, sure, they have their issues, but NOWHERE NEAR to the extent of the domestics.
Now that I have all the Mustang enthusiasts boiling mad
, I remind you all that I am an enthusiast, too. And I do believe that this car is VERY important to FoMoCo, and they will (I sincerely hope) address any significant issues that come up with this car. They are a company in series financial peril, and major problems with an icon that is the heart and soul of the Ford Motor Co. will hurt them dearly if not addressed immediately. Here's the other thing to remember: this is a car, not a marriage contract. Buy one. If there are any isolated problems, get Ford to fix it for you. If you start having numerous issues, then dump the car and buy something reputed to be trouble-free. You're not wed to it. Yeah, you'll lose a little money, but hey, it's waaay cheaper than a divorce!

Order the car......you're being paranoid. Its drives great. Sorry, but its the hard truth served cold. Plus, you've waited this long to cancel? Crazy.

With all the problems/issues I am reading, I am contemplating cancelling my order. My intentions were to use this car as a daily driver, however it seems as though there are a lot of problems which I just can't deal with. I am a copier technician, thus I drive about 100-200 miles a day. Being a technician I understand that no machine is perfect and they all need service at some point, but a brand new car should not have so many problems as I have been reading lately.
I decided to get another mustang because I LOVE the 05 styling, the interior is incredible (especially for a Mustang) and I have never had any problems with the others I've owned. IMHO the fox body was one of the most durable and reliable american cars ever built. I know people who were running nitrous on stock engines w/200k at the drag strip, and they still drove the cars to work on monday morning. It's too bad they don't build cars like that any more. The more I read about 05 problems the more I am inclined to cancel my order and find another good ole fox body.

Although my 05' has some "issues", it's still the best looking car I've ever owned. Everyone has a different tolerance level for acceptance of problems. In my building, our copier breaks down with regularity. If I had a choice of going back to a hand cranked "spritmaster", which was incredibly efficient, I'd decline. Hope you end up happy.
