Unhappy Windstorm damages my stang

Unfortunately I don't have a garage built yet. We had a windstorm kick up here yesterday and the metal carport the mustang was parked under blew over the top of the car and scraped it up pretty good in the process. White scrapes in pic are down to the metal, that's the worst damage as well as many other scratches all over the hood, fender, trunk, rear bumper facia, and spoiler. Stripes are ruined, two small chunks out of the front bumper facia, and the pass. side mirror knocked off. I've been literaly sick to my stomach since I got home yesterday. I blame myself cause I should have paid more attention to the weather report and moved it. I didn't have the car cover on it either which might have limited some of the scatching. Can't claim it on my homeowners cause I just filed a claim with them a month ago on kitchen damage from a plumbing leak. Didn't want them to cancel me for two claims within a month. Car insurance is going to cover it but I have 1K deductable to keep the premiums lower. Took it to the body shop today and their estimate is 3500. The only parts that won't get re-painted are the drivers door, qtr panel, lower rockers, and the roof. Everything else is affected. The stripes were going to come off anyway because they were spotting, and he said if I don't have stripes re-installed I would get a credit of 550. off the deductable. So, my saga begins, and I can only pray that the shop does a perfect job. They repaired my wifes car previously and it turned out good. The pics below are'nt the best and don't tell the whole story but you get the idea. The ins. adjuster will be out on Monday to look at it. I'll keep you posted.

OUCH !

Unfortunately I know a tiny bit about that myself. Picked up my car last Wednesday evening after work. Not stored indoors. Went out for work this morning and found a big azz tree limb laying in the parking spot beside my car. Lukily the main part of the branch missed the car, but the branch tips scratched the doggy-do out of the passenger side rear quarter in about 6 places. I "think" it will buff out, but I am not sure right now. Nine days old, and already scuffed.

Yours is much worse, and I feel terrible for you. Just letting you know you are not a Lone Ranger on this.

I'd take her into the shop and make her new all over again.

Wow....sorry to see your baby scratched up like that!
I have a two car garage but it is full with business stuff so I have to leave my Mustang parked in the driveway. However, I do keep it covered. Can't wait to have another two door garage built in the back!

DO NOT file a homeowners insurance claim for the damage to your car.

The car is NOT covered by your homeowners insurance.

Sucks to hear about the damage to your car. I'm sure that the body shop will do your car right and get her back in good shape. Hang in there.

(Here in SoCal, we are having MAJOR windstorms and fires. My car was getting sandblasted by all of the flying dirt on the way to work. SIGH... I feel your pain, but not to YOUR extent!)

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement everyone. The ins. adjuster is looking at it today and I should be making my appointment with the shop soon. The body shop dude says they'll make it look new again. I sure hope so. I'm trying to figure out if I want to get anything else for it to have the shop paint, (Qtr window louvers, Gt500 spoiler, chin spoiler)? A completely diferent look maybe, like black hood stripe, and spoiler, with rear window louvers? Who knows? trying to make lemonaid from lemons I guess. Later.

Got the ins. est. today....2700. Body shop est......3500. Shop says the adjuster left alot of stuff off. I'll be dropping the car off Monday and he'll do a supplemental est and bring the adjuster in to hash it out. Let the battle begin! Actually, the shop says it happens alot and not to worry. Sure, easy for him to say.

never use your insurances adjuster, they always "leave stuff off".

Always pick your own shop and send in the estimate from them. saves alot of time. For future refrence at this point.

Sucks about the damage, if you have a good shop you will never be able to tell
