This is the best looking V6 I've ever seen. Most look weak compared to the GT but not this time. But............it won't get the respect from "some" GT owners because it's a V6.
My car (97 GT) doesn't get respect of any kind from some of the 99-04 and even the 5.0 owners because of it's horsepower rating. I like the look of my car and the performance of my car, I don't care what anyone thinks. Only my opinon matters.

Remeber everyone, I'm asking about the 2005 V6 Mustangs. Not 2004 and earlier. You know, the new one with 210 HP which is only 5 less than the 96-'98 GT's had.
And I do think that the 4cyl was a terrible idea to put in the Mustang at any time.

'97 Mustang GT - 4.6L V8 = 215 hp
I think you don't get the respect from 5.0 owners because its not a 5.0, the horsepower didn't change when they swaped motors.

There were some 5.0's with 225hp. Can't remember which years, I'm sure someone will chime in. It doesn't matter, with the mods I have I'm making over 225hp now.
I don't know if the quality of the new 05 V-6's is one of the reasons but I haven't heard any GT guys complaining about the V6 folks getting their own thread, maybe because they like the new V6. Either that or Brad just doesn't want to start another thread.

One thing I find interesting is the 2005 V6 has 210 hp. The 1964 1/2 V8 had, well what do you know, 210 hp. So if you truly love the retro styling and wanna feel what it was like to drive one of the very first mustangs, go with the V6.

I honestly don't see how anyone wouldn't pay the extra minimal difference for a better car. Its only $5K.

People do have limited incomes, an extra $5k with the extra tax over a 5 year loan is an extra $100 a month. Throw in insurance, depending on circumstances could be an extra $50 a month. Thats $150 a month.
Oh and I forgot to mention it cost more to keep her fueled.

I built two Mustangs on Ford's site. One a V6 and one a GT. I made them both the same by ordering the V6 with ABS.
The difference in price was 4 Grand, but the difference in payments with the same amount down was $150/month. So there is a lot of difference in what your payments will be between the V6 and the GT........

There's nothing wrong with a V6. In fact, I currently have one...I'm just ready to upgrade.
Also, nothing wrong with some friendly ribbing amoung "friends", right?

I would hope that the Mustang family would show fellow family members the same respect they would expect. V6 or V8, it shouldn't matter much considering the original car was an inline 6... kinda like the Jeep family, they started as 4cyl. military vehicle, became more civilized -added various 6cyl & 8cyl engines... regardless, you still wave to a fellow Jeeper

There seems to be a lot of overly-polarized opinions in here. The way I see it, it's not just:
• V6 is just as great as the GT
• The V6 stinks
The most accurate, informed opinion (in my possibly innacurate, but still informed opinion :P ) would be that the V6 has it's place. It's better than the "base" car of just about any other model, it's better than most "sporty" 4-banger imports. It's better than most other 2 door cars out there (especially for the price), but it still doesn't hold a candle to the GT.
Just to give some background to this opinion, I've had a '65 6 cyl, and my current daily driver is a '96 V6. When I had that '65 I couldn't wait to get a V8 (which I now have) and with this '96, I can't wait to get a new '05 or '06 GT (which I will have).

The original car was available with a V8 from the start. In fact, the car that is recognized as "Mustang #1" is a 260cid V8.

Some (not all) V6 owners will ask for validation for their decision. They want us to say "No, no you made an excellent decision -it's O.K." Then they can feel better. I get the same thing from some 325 owners on the E46 3 series forums.
If you have to ask on a forum of your peers, folks ... YOU SETTLED for less. Live with it! As for the ones that don't give a crap about what the GT owners think of their V6, those of the ones I respect. IMO the V6 is an excellent car for money but it's a different car with a different mission.
Sorry

If you disregard the timing, that is absolutely right, and those GT owners need to come to terms with that.
My '66 would be waaay better if it were a Shelby (the 60's equivalent of a Cobra) and it would be worth more than twice as much!
Thats ok with me. Especially since, by the time I'm finished with it, it'll be better than any stock '66 Shelby.
