Why people hate the GT spoiler
Ok, I've read quite a few posts with a rather negative opinion of the rear spoiler on the GT's.
Personally I like it. For one thing it strongly resembles the Mach1 spoiler from 69 and 70 which just adds to the retro heritage aspect of the car.
I also think the car looks a little bland without out some kind of spoiler back there.
So that's my opinion. Looking for why folks disagree with it.

I don't hate the look.
I just couldn't see putting extra weight on MY car unless there was a performance advantage.
I haven't noticed any instability at high speeds and the stock wing isn't far enough up into airstream to create downforce anyway.
That's my thoughts.

Dislike it. The spoiler detracts from the lines of the vehicle. My .02.

i like it a lot. it does resemble the mach spoiler and i feel the back of the car needs something there
i will admit some people here have clean looking stangs with no spoiler

I don't think it fits the lines of the car. The only way it fits in is when painted satin black on a car with a Mach 1 theme. Otherwise, it looks like the same spoiler you'd find on a Focus or Fusion or something.

I dont hate it but Id rather not have one. Cleaner lines rule without any hint of anything that could be considered ricey looking. I hate anything that does not function. Personally, I dont like the side scoops on my Mach. I like the ones off of the 01 Bullitt.
I know Im nit picking here but nothing looks better imo than that clean looking sleeper look. Just say no to bling if it doesnt have a mechanical purpose.

Well, Im in the minority around here with my friends on the subject.
NJ3, by the way, that is a clean looking fox and s197! Now thats what Im talking about. That fits me to a tee. Im always leary of those clean looking cars. They tend to be fast most of the time.

I guess you don't know me well enough even after all this time.
Tisk, Tisk.
First of all it does stiffen the already stiff frame (performance advantage).
It does help cornering (not incredibly, but measurably).
Besides...
I drained all my washer fluid to offset the weight.
Fluid weighed more than the brace.
Of course, I don't have a skipper radio either.

I personally prefer it with my theme,it's now flat black & ties in well with the rear louvers, flat taillight panel, etc.
Some rides look cleaner without, so to each their own.

It has grown on me!
At first I did not like the GT spoiler at all. Because it seemed that 95% of all of the new GT's have them. Then my son Sam who builds Mustangs said. "It's great Mustang Heritage, right off of a 69 Boss and Mach Pop". So, because it is now part of the '07 GT/CS package, it must stay, along with the new S197 Stang Heritage! And after all of these months of washing and showing that CalStang, IMO he would not be the same with out it!
