Great info here. Of note is the "break down vs wear and tear" section. Also, don't pay the middle man. There are some great companies you can do buisiness with and they will give you a great price. I have been quoted $1050 for bumper to bumper, 7/100K, $100 deductible. Yes, I also had my doubts but after reading reviews and doing the research this is the way I will go. WarrantyDirect and 1Source both have been great in walking me through the coverage and even sending me the policy just so I could read it in advance. Please check it out and then decide.

I bought one. Now I'm covered up to the 100000 mark. More than the piece of mind and insurance, it comes with some additional benefits. During the first 3 years it covers the expense items like rotors and clutch plates. Beyond that, the premium care covers loaner cars. Since I bought from a different dealer than the servicing dealer, the service dealer has no obligation to provide a loaner (they sometimes do for sales from their dealership). Now I always get a loaner. Oh yea, the total cost at time of purchasae was a tad over $700. A steal. I wanted to buy this same plan for my explorer... initially it was $1200, a year later it's up to around $1600.
I purchased the plan outright too - this way it's not rolled into payments, and used my milage credit card to get points on top of it.
Having had some major electronics fail in my former bmw a month after warranty expiration, I can appreciate these plans. And hey, if I sell the car before 3 years are up (sacrilige!) then I can return the plan.

That's a great link to read, even if the author does seem heavily biased against manufacturer direct warranty's....though apparently for good reasons.
My Mustang dealer owes me a refund on a line item in my contract. Bad Dealer> <Me
I can have the refund go to the bank that has my loan and it would take a few payments off the end of the term - OR - they can give me a discounted premium ext. warranty from Ford and I'm all done. I'm leaning toward warranty. If I had to fork out cash right now, I'd forget about the ext. warranty as suggested here.

I got the 5 year 75,000 mile warranty from Ford for $750. They do negotiate. I just told them I would buy it later. But if they could lower it to $750 right now before I sign the paper work, I would get it. They wanted some ridiculous price of approx. $1,400 or so.

BUT.....labour can still kill.....
I figure, two large repairs will pay for the warranty. Plus, on a new model, I was playing it safe. I have no problem buying first year.....partly because I'll buy the warranty too.

I really don't think so....... I'm not sure how they could prove that would cause something to break. X-pipe........definately but not cat-back IMO.
I wouldn't worry about it. I'm not.
Think about it this way....would an axle-back void your warranty (changing mufflers?) No way. So some extra piping shouldn't either.
I put cat-back in the same category as rims and tires. As long as they are close to stock spec (ie. overal tire/wheel diameter) there isn't an issue. If you put a 3-4" catback on, then you may have a problem.

I just bought a used Bullitt and the previous owner bought to Ford plan for 6 years 75 thousand miles. It was a major factor in buying the car from him because I felt more secure about. These things only cost 1200 bucks tops but the peace of mind is amazing.
