Hey everyone. This is one of my first posts, but I've been visiting for a while. I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on what I should do.

Here is the problem: I ordered a satin silver GT auto with IUP and ICAP on DECEMBER 22. When the car came in, it didn't have either the IUP or the ICAP!! :bang: I asked my dealer why and he told me that Ford put a stop to ALL interior upgrade packages due to the lawsuit about the mycolor option. I have a copy of the order sheet, so I know it wasn't improperly ordered, but has anybody else heard of Ford discontinuing ALL interior upgrades?

The interior is one of the biggest reasons I ordered the mustang. I would LOVE to finally have one, but if it isn't what I really want then why should I buy it?

If anybody has any information that might help me in my quest for the interior upgrades, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

Thanks in advance,
Justin

No your dealer lied to you, they are making them with IUP as we speak. I would recommend going to a different dealer.

Sounds like it was probably a lot mustang that the dealer ordered. Could be he sold the one you actually ordered to someone who was willing to pay more money!!

I've seen plenty of IUP and a few ICAPS in dealer lots recently

My dealer is actually a friend of the family, but that doesn't mean he isn't trying to cover up a mistake! Should I try to have him find a car on another lot? Or should I put another order in?

Thanks for the immediate input. I didn't expect such a quick response!

You can enter another order, but it will take a while for it to get processed; they have a lot of catching up to do on IUP orders. Silver is the most popular color; you should place your order but keep an eye on dealer inventory to see if an identical car comes in that hasn't been ordered by a customer.

If you put in another order you're probably looking at an May/June Delivery time. Regardless, it's not the car you ordered. I'd go to a different dealer and check out the lots you might get lucky!

BS - My car was built 1/26 with IUP and ICAP. If I have read previous threads correctly, if the error was made by the dealer, there is no special priority order unless Ford screwed up. You are under no obligation to accept this. Seems like a number of dealers are trying to pull this stuff from what I am reading.

If you can find "your" car then buy it. If not order it, don't settle for anything less then you want. That's the way I see it.

Don't accept the car. You will always wish you had gotten the car you wanted. See if they can find you a replacment. If not, I would go to another dealer and see if they can dealer locate you one or order it. Like others have said, it will take a long time.

You might try Ford Customer service. Explain what happened and see if anything can bring the car faster.

Does the VIN number match the order?

Zach- the Interior Color Accent Package (ICAP) is the charcoal interior with red leather sport bucket seats, red door inserts and red floormats. Available in both V6 and GT, it requires charcoal leather trim and the Interior Upgrade Package (IUP) which comprises the satin finished metal instrument panel appliques, bright interior door handles and the 'my color' gauge lighting customization.

edit: well in the time I took to post I see that your question was answered much more succinctly!

They probably did to you what they did to me. When they put the "TEMPORARY" hold on the IUP they took mine out of the system and ordered one without, so they wouldn't loose there allocation waiting for mine. Which means my order date got changed from the origainal 10/27/04 to when they replaced it on 12/17/04 so as of today I AM STLL CLEAN AND UNSCHEDULED!

I'm on my way out the door to the dealer right now. Hopefully, it was just a mistake and he can order me the one I want (I'm definately not getting the one that arrived). I'll check back here after I get home from the dealer and I'll let everyone know what happened.
