wheel help needed

hello my name is John this is a pom post and i own a 2006 ford mustang gt stock motor nothing done to it all stock (daily). I recently bought 245/45/17 bullit style wheels for it when i originally had 245/35/20 heavy wheels. changed them out for weight and to save a couple bucks when changing tires recently i have notice that the tires on them looks to be sitting as if its heavy for the car i have the air on all the tires up to 35 psi and haven't dropped psi. i want to know if the wheels even are meant for this car i am going to put new tires on them soon just wanting to get any information before i pull the trigger of spending 700 on new tires. i tried looking up wheel specs and they pretty much told me any wheel from 16-18 works best for these cars.

Check the load rating on the tires versus the correct load rating for these cars . . . I am not sure of those numbers, but Tire Rack should have them . . . look up tires based on your make / model / year car, and note the load rating; you want tires that have at least as high a load rating.

But regardless of the load rating, if the air pressure is correct, I am not sure what you are seeing -- what do you mean "looks to be sitting as if its heavy for the car" -- do the tires look like they are flat? Can you post a picture of what you are talking about?

The S500 Mustang 2015-2022 wheels are NOT correct for the S197 Mustang 2005-2014. If you do buy new wheels, make sure they are correct for YOUR year and model car, not a different one. You can go to different sizes, as long as they are designed correctly for the S197 (correct width, offset, etc.); but if you are not sure about all of that, then the safest thing is to go with what they say fits your car.

245/45-17 is a really short tire for a stang.I put aftermarket bullitt wheels on mine with the stock size 235/55-17,which is the stock size for a gt.I recently replaced the rears with 255/50-17,which are about the same height as the 235/55

My wheels are 8" wide, from American Muscle

As Bert mentioned, maybe your tires LOOK flat due to the super low profile

I have to agree with the 45's being too low a profile for our cars. Mine originally were 16's, went to 18's, then to 19's and now back to 18's. I have a full set of the 2006 GT wheels (takeoffs) that have been sitting in my shed for over 12 years.

My opinion of wheel vs tire size. Stick with the 17's or 18's for best ride overall. Looks, being subjective, I still stick around the 18 or 19's. I rode in a friends 2013 Boss and he had 20's. That beat me to death. Usually a lot less tire, just a lot of rim.

I'm getting ready to put on a set of AMR charcoal 18x8's on my 08 GT. I'm going with their recommendation on tire size of 235/50/18, will let you know in about a week with photos.I found a set of 2014 18x8 5 spoke looking wheels today on Marketplace with almost new Pirelli's and TPMS still installed for $200. I drove an hour to pick them up so fast my money almost beat me there....LOL

The stock tire sizes for 05-10 S197 GT models are 235/55/17 on 17x8" wheels and 235/50/18 on 18x8" wheels.. I agree with the others that 245/45/17" are too low profile and also shorter than the recommended OEM height of 27" You should stick with either the recommended OEM height or slightly taller. If your running 17x8" wheels? I'd recommend staying with either stock 235/55/17" tires or upgrade to 255/50/17 sizes which are also 27" in diameter. For 18x8" size wheels, stick with either OEM 235/50/18" tires or upgrade to 255/45/18" which also have a stock diameter of 27" Meanwhile, hope you'll find the provided info as helpful and also welcome aboard.

Thanks, I will be using the 235/50/18 used Pirellis for a while to clear up some other bills, then when it comes time to go buy new, I'll revisit. I toyed with the idea of going staggered, but just too many drawbacks for me. I stuck the 2014 gt wheels I bought on yesterday and like the look. When I go swap the wheels out, I can just throw them in the trunk and go find a tire place to have them changed out, seemed the easiest way. Then the 14 wheels will probably get put on marketplace and sold. I still have the factory 17's for a backup set.

I still think that these 18's were the very best factory wheels for our S197s. The 10-12 GT wheels in 19's are very nice also.

I like the look of the painted silver 5 spoke wheels, I really do. To me the chrome is just not what I want. I bought the car with a set of chrome bullitts on it, and they came off first I think within a week. LOL Luckily I got the factory painted bullitts with the car. She had also chrome accented **** near everything she could, I took it all off and sold it. The Flowmaster exhaust stayed (got the factory mufflers back also), and got a rear window louver. Score with all the extras.

I also toyed with the idea of going staggered, but in the end, I decided to stick with 275/40/18" on all 4 corners in order to rotate and extend tire life.
