Not in California. Almost impossible to get a CCW (concealed weapon permit) here. So only cops and criminals carry. Us (more or less) law-abiding citizens have to get by with a Maglite or a baseball bat.
What's in my trunk? Earthquake supplies (protein bars, bottled water, first aid kit and a sleeping bag). Reason? I live RIGHT near the San Andreas Fault and my car is always with me.

DAILY DRIVER
Glove box- Owner's booklet, blackberry charger, leatherman tool, tire pressure gauge
Center armrest- Change, towel, work ID, Axe spray, pen
Backseat- lucky new car change on floor, cd booklet
Trunk - wheel lock kit tool, ice scraper (i'm hoping to get a beater so i never have to have it see winter weather
), oh and a s**tload of partying people like that Coolio Fantastic Voyage video from back in the day.. lol

glove box: tire guage, manual, pen, lic & reg. insurance, get out of jail free cards.
cup holder: keyless remote, oakleys, blue tooth.
Center console: asp (police baton), list of Sirruis stations
trunk: mover's blanket to protect from grass & dirt, golf clubs, cooler, golf shoes, towels.
