What part is this? And where does it go? Solved !!

2007 stang.
I got an oil change a few months back and the guy took these out of my car, somewhere under the hood and told me that my car is better off not to have them inside it. They were full of leaves and dirt at the time when he removed them.
I didnt see where he took them out, but I am thinking I should put them back where they are suppose to go. I looked all over under my hood but couldnt see where they would fit into.

Pics included

They've got to be from under the car where the cowl area of the hood drains underneath.

I would think they were there originally for a good reason

I remember he was able to remove them from reaching under the hood when it was propped up. He stuck his hand pretty far down to grab them and take them out.

It was a manager at a ford dealer who did it, as I was showing him the bubbling issue on my hood .

Bingo! They do get blocked by debris (leaves, triggs, etc.) then cause water to pool up inside the cowl area, which then overflows into the cabin, usually damaging the electrical of your Smart junction Box over on the passenger side footwell. I would just reinstall them and make sure they aren't blocked, and maybe replace your cabin air filter while you're at it.

Thanks for the replies!!

I found this post too

https://themustangsource.com/f739/co...-clean-504787/

It looks to be around the same area of where the guy was sticking his hands tp pull them from.

I will have to find out how to change the cabin air filter first Is that an easy task?
I work with computers. Not cars

So both of the areas are vertical and the rubber drainthings just goes point straight down, but with the smaller tips at the top , seems pretty pointless to have them in there. I put them in , by the way the slots are not visible I had to slide my hand all around to finally find the slots, They both snapped right into place though.

"Smaller tips at the top" just sounds logically wrong.
Did you try putting them in the other way?
I plan on climbing into my engine compartment this weekend, so I will be looking at mine!

That does sound wrong. They should be like funnels, with the narrow flat side pointing down.

OK looks like I put them in backwards! lol. I know where they go now from looking at that other picture.
The guy that removed them also said he usually just cuts the tips of them off to make the opening bigger too.

I am not sure why these are even needed, at least in my 07 they seem really pointless because the opening just directly points to the ground.

Let me know what you find on yours!

Oh I managed to change the air cabin filter!.
First time in 5 years!!
It was pretty dirty. But I only have 15k on my stang.

Leave Them Out - or - if you reinstalled them take them back out. They will fill with debris and you WILL have a waterfall into the passenger foot-well. There is a very informative thread on allfordmustangs.com

BMW had a similar issue on the older 3-series (E-30). It would probably be best to remove them and to cut the tips off where they seem to be pinched together. This will allow small debris to go through without clogging, while directing the water downward.
