Went over to the dark side..............

Bought a 2008 Z51 C6. Car came in last week.

Originally wanted a GT500 but I got tired of all the dealer crap and hype. Not downing the car as it's an amazing machine but I just don't feel it's worth the mark ups being asked. Made me look around to see what else was out there in the 45 - 50k price range. I looked at a few Saleen's, Roush and even a Shelby GT with the optional supercharger. I decided against these because I already have an 07 GT which has some mods done to it.

Car has the Z51 suspension, NPP exhaust, comp grey wheels, 6spd manual trans, and glass top. Total MSRP was $50,260.00 and I paid $45,215.00

Pics to follow

You did good on the deal. It looks good. CONGRATS!

Is the '08 rated at 430 hp at the flywheel?

With the optional exhaust it's rated at 436hp but most cars dyno at the 390 rwhp range.

Good luck on your new ride.
Ashame the dealers had to make you jump through hoops on the GT-500.

I ordered this car in Aug, at that time the mark ups on the GT500 were around 10k. They have since come down to around the 5k range but I have never paid an ADM or even MSRP on any vehicle that I've purchased and I don't intend to start now. I'm very happy with the Vette and have no regrets.

The C6 is a fine car. you will enjoy it. A friend of mine just bought one with the optional exhaust. He bought an aftermarket device that allows him to control the butterfly valves remotely. He can open/close them as he pleases from a remote key fob. It is really cool. the car sounds a little too burbly at low RPMs for my taste, but, he loves the sound. I can find out where he got it from if you are interested.

Sorry to hear we lost a GT500 customer, but, I understand. I looked at the C6 a few times.

Congratulations,

What you did was both in your best interest and ours. If people keep buying Vettes instead of GT500s because of dealer hype, maybe Ford will put an end to the madness.

Your Vette looks beautiful and now you have one of each. Time to make the Stang a 1/4 mile car!

Later,

Shaun

Congrats!!!

Cool wheels.....are they part of the Z51 pkg??

Take it from experience, yes, a Vette & Pony can happily coexist in the same garage. Rather it's the wife and me (for the fact that her car is outside all winter) that have the problem coexisting now that I have taken both spots in the garage.

Yup, most Corvettes are referred to as either "Coupes" or "Roadsters".
